ISS STOXX in Manila is seeking a Research Analyst for Sustainability Solutions Research. You will gather and analyze ESG data from disclosures, perform estimations where data is incomplete, and support research that informs responsible investment and sustainability practice.

The role requires 3+ years in related fields, strong English skills, and a solid understanding of ESG and SDGs. Collaboration with international teams will be a core aspect of this position.

Overview

ISS STOXX is growing! We are seeking for Research Analysts to join our Sustainability Solutions Research team in Manila. This role will focus on the collection and analysis, including estimations and calculations, of revenue-based data from corporate disclosures to identify the impact of companies' products and services portfolios on deforestation and sustainable development.

Our Sustainability Solutions Research teams are based in the Philippines, the US, Australia, Germany, Sweden, India, and the UK. The successful candidate will work both independently as well as collaboratively with the local team and colleagues across our global offices. Working in a dynamic market and international environment, we put great emphasis on cooperation and offer a welcoming, collegial working atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities

• Systematic ESG data gathering from company disclosures (e.g., sustainability reports, annual reports) and ESG data processing, research, and analysis in line with ISS STOXX Sustainability methodology. The Research Analyst needs to have an in depth understanding of, and strong interest in, macro-level ESG issues.
• Collect, interpret, justify, and document data and analysis
• Make estimations/calculations for data that is not directly provided
• Attend to internal/client queries and requests to ensure research is aligned with research methodology and policy guidelines
• Participate in working committees, projects and/or tasks aside from their core responsibilities
• Closely collaborate with project and team members

Qualifications

• Must have at least 3 years of relevant professional experience in a sustainability-related field (environment, labor issues, human rights, etc.), financial services, ESG research/Sustainable finance/Credit Ratings, think tanks focused on sustainability, or academic research institutes/universities.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree (a degree in a relevant field such as sustainability, development studies, environmental science, or international human rights is desirable but not required, knowledge of financial markets and sustainable finance is an advantage ).
• Working knowledge inthe Deforestation and the UN SDGs (United Nations Sustainable Development Goals) and basic understanding of company’s financial reporting would be an advantage.
• Excellent English language skills, both written and oral.
• Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong passion for ESG, responsible investment, and sustainability.
