Job summary

MicroSourcing is seeking a Structural Engineer to lead residential and light commercial projects. You will perform structural analysis, create designs in wood, masonry, steel, and concrete, and prepare detailed construction documents.

Collaboration with architects, PMs, and clients will be essential to deliver quality work on schedule. You should have 3-5+ years of experience, strong AutoCAD 2D skills, and familiarity with Revit and RISA 3D.

• Strong AutoCAD 2D proficiency and Revit experience.
• Experience with RISA 3D for structural analysis and design.
• Solid knowledge of Florida Building Codes and IBC requirements.
• US project experience is required.

Your Role

As a Structural Engineer - Residential & Light Commercial, you will serve as the design lead and certifying engineer for residential and light commercial structural projects. You will be responsible for structural analysis, engineering design, construction documentation, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality projects on time and within budget.

Specifically, You Will

• Lead the structural design of single-family residential projects, with opportunities to support light commercial developments.
• Perform structural analysis and design of wood, masonry, steel, and concrete structures (up to three stories).
• Design shallow/spread and deep foundation systems based on project requirements.
• Prepare structural calculations, engineering reports, and detailed construction documents.
• Develop and maintain accurate AutoCAD drawings, with Revit used where applicable.
• Coordinate with architects, project managers, consultants, and clients throughout the project lifecycle.
• Review engineering specifications, drawings, and contract documents to ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Respond to Requests for Information (RFIs), conduct design reviews, support construction activities, and perform site visits when required.
• Ensure all structural designs comply with applicable Florida Building Codes, International Building Codes (IBC), and industry standards.

What You Need

Non-negotiables

• 3-5+ years of structural engineering experience, primarily with wood and masonry structures.
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD 2D.
• Experience using RISA 3D for structural analysis and design.
• Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong understanding of Florida Building Codes and International Building Code (IBC) requirements.
• Experience designing metal plate connected wood trusses and engineered wood products.
• Experience designing steel, wood, masonry, and concrete structures up to three stories.
• US project experience is required.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with excellent attention to detail.

Preferred Skills/expertise

• Experience using Revit for structural modeling and documentation.
• Experience serving as Engineer of Record or Design Lead on residential or commercial projects.
• Knowledge of residential permitting and construction documentation processes.
• Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary design teams.
• Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality standards.
• Familiarity with construction administration, field observations, and responding to RFIs.
