Job summary

SYSTRA is seeking a Structural Design Engineer in Metro Manila to perform calculations, modeling, and analysis for elevated structures such as train stations and depots. The role requires close collaboration with Architecture and MEPF teams to ensure safe, economical and code-compliant designs.

The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of international codes, proficiency in MIDAS/ETABS/STAAD, and experience with AutoCAD, Revit and Navisworks.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of local and international codes (NSCP, DPWH DGCS, ACI, AISC, ASCE, Eurocode, etc.) or project standards
• Proficient in structural analysis and design using MIDAS, ETABS, STAAD or equivalent
• Experience with SAFE or equivalent foundation design software
• Experience with RAMCon or equivalent connection design software
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit and Navisworks or equivalent 3D visualization tools
• Excellent analytical, problem solving and spatial abilities

Responsibilities

• Performs structural engineering calculations, modeling and analysis.
• Solves problems of moderate to high complexity per project requirements.
• Ensures safety, constructability and cost effectiveness of the design.

Context

The structural design engineer is part of a relatively small team that has to work with limited supervision. The environment is fast paced and initiative is expected. This role requires substantial knowledge on modeling, analysis and design of elevated structures (mostly train stations and depot buildings).

Missions/Main Duties

• Performs structural engineering calculations, modeling and analysis;
• Solves problems of moderate to high level complexity in accordance with project requirements;
• Ensures safety, constructability and cost effectiveness of the design;
• Understands applicable codes and specifications;
• Signing and/or sealing of designed drawings and reports as required; and
• Coordinates with different disciplines such as Architectural and MEPF.

Profile/Skills

• Knowledge of discipline local and international codes (NSCP, PD 1096, DPWH DGCS, ACI, AISC, ASCE, UBC, Eurocode, etc.) or project specific standards, specifications, design criteria and construction methodology;
• Knowledgeable with MIDAS, ETABS, STAAD or equivalent structural software for analysis and design.
• Knowledgeable with SAFE or equivalent foundation design software.
• Knowledgeable with RAMCon or equivalent connection design software;
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks or equivalent 3D viewer software;
• Advanced computer and software skills (structural analysis software and spreadsheets);
• Analytical and problem solving skills; and
• Spatial ability.
