Job summary

Metro Arts Commission is seeking a Public Art Manager to lead the public art program, including capital and operating budgets, and to supervise four project managers. The role collaborates with artists, partners, and internal teams to expand access to public art experiences in Nashville.

The position emphasizes strategic planning, policy development, and program oversight, reporting to the Executive Director in a Civil Service capacity. Starts 01/04/2027.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree plus five years of professional management-level experience in public art administration or related fields.
• Minimum of two years of supervisory experience.
• Experience with budgets, financial statements, and project accounting.

Responsibilities

• Oversees the development of high impact public art projects from conception to installation.
• Designs and guides project schedules and multiyear tracking systems for all public art projects.
• Develops and manages the capital (One Percent for Art) and operating budgets for the public art program.
• Manages contracts with vendors, contractors, and service providers and ensures responsible resource stewardship.
• Serves as lead staff support to the Public Art Committee of the Arts Commission.
