Job summary

Dexcom Philippines seeks a seasoned Staff Database Administrator to lead and optimize Oracle EBS and Oracle DB across enterprise systems in Manila. The role focuses on performance tuning, security, and reliability for critical business systems.

The DBA will implement robust backup/DR, manage on‑call rotations across US/EMEA hours, and collaborate with global teams to ensure 24x7 operational readiness and data integrity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in database administration across Oracle Database (including RAC, ASM, Data Guard) – at least version 19c; EBS database administration.

Responsibilities

  • Design, administer, and support Oracle Database platforms including EBS R12.
  • Tune Oracle EBS database performance; monitor, run scripts, and manage concurrent processing.
  • Manage Oracle EBS application tier, troubleshoot long running jobs, and configure printers.
  • Handle database refresh/cloning, patch application, and workflow management for EBS.
  • Troubleshoot EBS functional issues and provide solutions.
  • Ensure performance, availability, and scalability with proactive monitoring.
  • Automate health checks and recovery tasks; implement backup and DR solutions (RMAN, Data Guard).
  • Support high availability, replication, and failover across platforms.
  • Collaborate with Development and DBA teams for design, deployment, and optimization.
  • Enforce data governance, security, user management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Document procedures and change logs; provide 24x7 on-call support across time zones.
  • Respond to incidents during on-call rotations and outside business hours.
  • Bridge calls and incident management during major events; ensure continuity of operations.
  • Work across APAC, EMEA, and U.S. regions for seamless support.

Meet the Team

We are seeking a highly experienced Staff Database Administrator (DBA) to lead the management, optimization, and support of our enterprise-wide database environment. The successful candidate will have extensive hands‑on expertise with Oracle EBS, Oracle database, and Oracle Linux operating system. This role is critical to ensure database reliability, scalability, performance, regulatory compliance, and data security across all business‑critical systems.


Where You Come In


  • Design, configure, administer, and support multiple database platforms: Oracle (including EBS R12)

  • Expert on Oracle EBS database performance tuning, operation, monitoring, compiling packages, executing and authoring scripts.

  • Expert on managing Oracle EBS application tier, such as troubleshooting long running concurrent manager jobs, configure Oracle EBS printer on Apps and OS side, troubleshooting workflow mailer, restarting oacore due to stuck thread.

  • Expert knowledge to manage and support Oracle EBS database components, including database refresh/cloning, patch application, workflow management, and concurrent processing.

  • Expert knowledge on troubleshooting functional Issues on EBS applications - assisting users with functional problems and providing solutions.

  • Ensure database performance, availability, and scalability through proactive monitoring and tuning.

  • Automate tasks and create scripts for database health monitoring and issue resolution.

  • Implement robust backup and disaster recovery solutions using tools like RMAN, DataGuard, etc.

  • Support and maintain high availability, replication, and failover configurations across platforms.

  • Collaborate with Development and DBA teams for database design, deployment, and performance optimization.

  • Enforce data governance, security, user management, and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Document procedures, configurations, and change logs thoroughly and accurately.

  • Provide 24x7 support for critical systems and participate in on‑call rotations.

  • Provide on‑call support aligned with U.S. and EMEA business hours/time zones.

  • Be available to respond to critical database incidents, production outages, and high‑priority escalations during assigned on‑call periods.

  • Support planned maintenance, system upgrades, patching, deployments, and production activities that may occur outside normal business hours.

  • Collaborate with DBA teams and technical teams across APAC, EMEA, and U.S. regions to provide seamless follow‑the‑sun support.

  • Perform effective handoffs between global support teams to ensure continuity of operations.

  • Participate in bridge calls and major incident management activities when required.

  • Maintain a high level of responsiveness and technical ownership during assigned on‑call periods.

  • Follow established escalation procedures, incident management processes, and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

  • Support weekend and holiday coverage when assigned as part of the DBA on‑call rotation.

  • Working in US shift during the probationary period. Once regularized, will be required to work in time zones other than Manila time zone.


What Makes You Successful


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in database administration across: Oracle Database (including RAC, ASM, Data Guard) – at least version 19c Oracle E‑Business Suite (EBS) database administration

  • Strong SQL and PL/SQL scripting skills.

  • Deep understanding of database architecture, indexing, partitioning, and query optimization.

  • Familiarity with data security standards (encryption, auditing, access controls)

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

  • Ability to work independently and lead complex database projects.

  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills under tight deadlines

  • Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four‑year college or university


Preferred Qualifications


  • DBA certifications (e.g., Oracle DBA, Oracle EBS, RMAN, Data Guard).

  • Experience with database monitoring and diagnostic tools (OEM, SQL Profiler, etc.).

  • Experience in supporting other enterprise apps like Oracle BI, FCCS, Oracle WMS is a plus.

  • Experience with ORDS and Apex administration

Experience and Education Requirements

Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, and a minimum of 8-12 years related experience or Master’s degree and 5-7 years equivalent industry experience or a PhD and 2-4 years of experience.
