Job summary

BlackLine is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to help build the next generation of BlackLine and its data platform. You will design connectors to ERP,Bank, Payments, Tax and Subledger systems, focusing on extensibility, usability and scalable data transfer using diverse protocols.

You will contribute to a cloud-based backend stack including Event Bus, API Gateway, Developer Portal, Job Scheduler and more. In this role you will lead and mentor engineers, drive architectural decisions, and work

Qualifications

• BS degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years of professional experience in building Web scale highly available multi-tenant SaaS with focus on backend platform, frameworks, RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Expert in one or more object-oriented programming languages (C#, Java, or C++).
• Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and design patterns with high concurrency and security.
• Experience delivering and extending highly extensible modular applications with various models of extensibility.
• Technical lead experience for design, architecture and code reviews of distributed systems.
• Fluent in SQL, No-SQL, data modeling and transactional flows.
• Open to Agile development and mentoring peers.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership in requirements analysis, design, estimation, development, testing and delivery of scalable backend services.
• Collaborate with product management, architects and other teams to translate needs into functional requirements.
• Maintain business value focus in planning, design and communication.
• Lead architectural discussions and drive technical decisions with trade-offs on technology and performance.
• Estimate scope and timelines and deliver commitments.
• Enforce best practices for quality, security and maintainability.
• Research and evaluate new tools and technologies for product development.
• Mentor team members and perform peer code reviews.
• Provide on-call support and maintenance when required.
