Job summary

Apex Fintech Solutions LLC is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and optimize distributed fintech software on Google Cloud Platform. You will work across languages like Python and Java, develop microservices, and enhance CI/CD pipelines in a hybrid, office-plus-remote setup.

You’ll contribute to scalable cloud architectures, modernize legacy systems, and collaborate with diverse teams in a fast-paced fintech environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
• 3–5 years of cloud application engineering or equivalent.
• Hands-on with GCP or AWS and containerized deployments (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Experience with CI/CD tools and deployment automation (GitHub Actions).

Duties/Responsibilities

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and design scalable software systems and applications.

• Design & develop applications/tools with high-quality, reusable code on GCP using Python, Go, Terraform leveraging Claude AI

• Contribute to design and optimization of microservices and cloud-based system architectures.

• Evaluate existing frameworks and modernize legacy systems to align with scalable, cloud-based solutions.

• Prototype and implement new features to enhance our data platform.

• Develop and improve CI/CD pipelines for application deployment, ensuring reliable and repeatable delivery

• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve reliability and performance issues, contributing to incident response as needed

• Contribute to reducing operational toil through automation, self-service tooling, and process improvements

• Maintain application/product documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures

• Stay current with GCP services and emerging cloud-native technologies and practices

• Support cost optimization efforts by monitoring costs and recommending right-sizing and efficiency improvements

• Conduct rigorous code reviews to ensure strong engineering principles and maintainable solutions.

• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and industry protocols while adhering to the firm’s policies.

Required Skills/Abilities

To be successful in this role, you should have:

• Proficiency in software development using modern programming languages like Python, Java, Go, or similar tools.

• Experience in cloud ecosystems, particularly Google Cloud Platform services like Big Query, Cloud SQL, Kafka, GLE clusters, Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions.

• Strong understanding of microservices architecture and CI/CD pipelines.

• Proven expertise in cloud application development and familiarity with distributed systems or data-intensive platforms.

• Problem-solving mindset, with the ability to think critically through challenging engineering scenarios.

• Passion for learning new technologies, frameworks, and tools to contribute to dynamic software solutions.

• Experience in software design patterns, datastore design, and application optimization for scale.

• Solid understanding of DevOps and SRE principles including CI/CD, GitOps, and deployment strategies.

Preferred Skills/Abilities

• Familiarity in Terraform and IaC best practices

• Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools (e.g., Cloud Monitoring, Datadog)

• Familiarity with data orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow

• Understanding of cloud cost allocation and right-sizing recommendations

• Familiarity with financial systems, trading and accounting concepts, and compliance within regulated environments

• Cloud certifications (GCP Associate Cloud Engineer, GCP Professional Cloud Engineer, AWS Cloud Practitioner, AWS Solutions Architect Associate)

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent work experience)

• 3-5 years of experience in cloud application engineering

• Hands-on experience with a major cloud platform required — GCP preferred (GKE, Cloud SQL) or AWS (EC2, EM R S3, RDS, Lambda)

• Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes/GKE)

• Experience with CI/CD tools and deployment automation, particularly GitHub Actions

• Exposure to orchestration platforms (e.g., Apache Airflow) is a plus

• Experience with DataFold, Atlan is a plus

Work Environment

• This job operates in a hybrid, office environment 2 days per week.
