Job summary

TheDataMovingCompany in the Philippines is seeking a data engineer to design, develop, and maintain robust data transformation processes. You will collaborate with multiple teams to drive data-driven insights and support SAP-based migrations.

You will work on designing scalable data pipelines, performing performance tuning in ABAP and SQL, and using the Data Conversion Suite (DCS) and LSMW for migrations. A strong emphasis on mentorship and continuous learning is included.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field.
• At least 2 years SAP experience with ABAP development.
• Experience with SAP data structures and data dictionaries.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in data engineering and data management.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of robust data pipelines to ingest, process, and transform large volumes of data from diverse sources while ensuring data quality.
• Evaluate technologies, tools, and frameworks for scalability, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
• Implement data transformation processes to cleanse, aggregate, and transform raw data for analysis and reporting.
• Develop ETL processes to cleanse, transform, and enrich data for analysis.
• Perform performance tuning in SAP ABAP and SQL for efficient queries.
• Utilize Data Conversion Suite (DCS) to develop transformation processes.
• Support data migration from legacy systems into SAP using LSMW.
• Assist SAP data migrations using various batch input/direct input/IDoc methods.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.

About the role

This plays a vital role in design, development, and maintaining data transformation processes, contributing to the organization's ability to derive insights. Your work will involve collaboration with various teams and stakeholders and continuous learning and growth in data engineering.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development of robust, scalable data pipelines to ingest, process, and transform large volumes of data from diverse sources, ensuring data quality, consistency, and reliability
• Evaluate and recommend appropriate technologies, tools, and frameworks for data engineering projects, considering factors such as scalability, performance, and cost-effectiveness
• Implement data transformation processes to cleanse, aggregate, and transform raw data into usable formats for analysis and reporting
• Develop ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to cleanse, transform, and enrich raw data into usable formats for analysis and reporting
• Perform performance tuning in SAP ABAP and SQL to optimize code and database queries for efficient and effective application performance
• Build proficiency in using the organization's Data Conversion Suite (DCS) as the primary tool to develop transformation processes
• Facilitate data migration from legacy systems into SAP using the Legacy System Migration Workbench (LSMW) tool
• Transfer data into SAP applications using various methods, such as batch input, direct input, and IDoc processing
• Handle ECC to S/4HANA migrations using the Data Conversion Suite (DCS) within SAP's Migration Cockpit
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, guiding them in best practices, design patterns, and coding standards

About you

• At least 2 years of SAP experience demonstrating both technical understanding of SAP as a whole as well as hands-on development and problem-solving using ABAP
• Knowledge of the SAP data dictionary structure
• Knowledge of functional processing
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field
• Relevant experience in data engineering and data management
• Knowledge in programming languages SAP ABAP and SQL for data manipulation and analysis
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data systems and optimize performance
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
