Job summary

CI&T is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Java) in Metro Manila to act as a technical leader and mentor within a cross-functional team. You will own complex software solutions, maintain legacy applications, and bridge technical execution with business objectives.

You will drive design, reviews, testing and production readiness while collaborating with stakeholders and delivering high-uptime systems.

Qualifications

• 5-7+ years of Java enterprise development (Java 8+; J2EE)
• Deep MySQL expertise with large-scale databases
• Proficiency in JavaScript/HTML/CSS and MVC patterns

Title

Senior Software Engineer (Java)

Job Purpose

As a Senior Software Engineer at CI&T, you will act as a technical leader and mentor within a cross-functional team. You will take ownership of complex software solutions, lead the maintenance of mission-critical legacy applications, and bridge the gap between technical execution and business objectives

Key Accountabilities

Core Responsibilities

• Top-notch engineering implementation and delivery: Lead the design, implementation, troubleshooting, testing and deployment of complex features and defects within large codebases (thousands of lines of code).
• Legacy System Evolution: Maintain, refactor, and modernize existing Java/J2EE code while proactively managing technical debt.
• Production Support & Reliability: Lead incident response, conduct root cause analysis (RCA), and implement sustainable solutions for systems requiring 99%+ uptime.
• Quality & Standards: Establish coding standards, conduct thorough code reviews, and drive comprehensive testing and monitoring strategies.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate technical concepts and incident status updates effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Knowledge and Experience

Technical Requirements

• Java Expertise: 5-7+ years of experience in Java enterprise development (Java 8+), including J2EE technologies like Servlets and JSP.
• Database Mastery: Deep expertise in MySQL, including complex query optimization, stored procedures, and managing large-scale databases (100M+ records).
• Web Technologies: Strong proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and MVC architecture patterns.
• DevOps & Infrastructure: Hands‑on experience with CI/CD practices, Git, Maven, and managing production environments.
• Cloud & Integration: Solid understanding of AWS services (S3, RDS, ECS), web services (SOAP/REST), and data integration patterns (ETL, SFTP)

Preferred Qualifications

• AI/Agentic Mindset: Experience or strong interest in Agentic AI approaches to enhance development workflows and system automation.
• Containerization: Experience with Docker and modern container orchestration.
• Systems Knowledge: Familiarity with Windows Server, PowerShell scripting, and legacy frameworks like Caucho Resin or Apache Axis.
• Domain Experience: Background in the automotive industry or Dealer Management Systems (DMS).
