IS PROFESSIONAL SERVICES OPC is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to own the general ledger, month-end, and financial reporting framework for the Australian entity, with collaboration with New Zealand to ensure consistency across both entities. The role guides accounting policy and fosters a stronger finance community.
Responsibilities include month-end submissions to Group, balance sheet reconciliations, statutory and local reporting, regulatory returns, and compliance with accounting
The Senior Financial Accountant will have ownership over the general ledger, month-end process and financial reporting framework. This position has direct accountability for the Australian entity but will also work collaboratively with New Zealand to ensure consistency and robustness in process, systems and tools across both entities. As a senior member of the team, the position will also play a pivotal part in driving accounting policy and practice within the organisation and fostering a stronger finance community.
Manage the month-end process including submission of results to the Group.
Ensure timely completion of all balance sheet reconciliations.
Accurate completion of all financial reporting requirements including statutory reporting, regulatory statistical returns, local management reporting, variance analysis and commentary.
Proactively ensuring compliance with accounting standards and guidelines as well as regulatory/legislative requirements.
Driving continuous improvement within the Finance function to ensure that systems, tools and processes are fit for purpose.
Provide accounting guidance to the team as well as the wider business.
Assist with the timely preparation and lodgement of the Income Tax, FBT and GST returns.
Support the budgeting and forecasting processes.
Liaise with external auditors as part of the interim and year-end audit.
Manage the capex and fixed asset register & lease accounting.
Ensure master data integrity in key systems as well as maintaining the processes to support the data quality.
Bachelor/College Degree in Finance/Accounting or a related field.
Qualified member of CA or CPA.
Demonstrable experience in a similar financial accounting role.
Demonstrable experience in the practical application of accounting standards.
Post qualification exposure in an Australian accounting environment preferred.
FMCG or similar fast-paced environment preferred.
Financial modelling experience preferred.
Big 4 background prior to moving to industry an advantage.
Advanced MS Office skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, required.
Advanced knowledge of SAP required.
Problem solving and analysis experience required.
Exposure to Hyperion (HFM) preferred.
