Job summary

Orica is seeking a Specialist – Planning to support regional demand planning for AusPac. You will forecast, analyze data, and drive IBP/SAP-based planning improvements across multiple sites.

You will work with cross-functional teams to balance cost and service, maintain master data, and lead communications with stakeholders to optimize forecasts. A strong background in forecasting and analytics is essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, statistics, supply chain or a related quantitative discipline.
• 5–7 years of experience in Supply Chain, Demand Planning or a related field.
• Strong planning expertise with understanding of MRP, demand and supply planning, and forecasting processes.
• Experience with SAP systems, exposure to IBP modules is highly regarded.
• Advanced skills in planning systems and data visualization (SAP S/4HANA, IBP, Excel, Power BI).

Responsibilities

• Accountable for detailed demand analysis and forecast enrichment to ensure balanced, accurate forecasts aligned with business objectives.
• Enhance sales forecast models by reviewing historical trends, adjusting forecasting parameters, and summarizing plans.
• Adhere to the S&OP calendar and meet demand planning deadlines and requirements.
• Lead weekly/monthly communications with cross-functional stakeholders to surface assumptions, risks and opportunities affecting demand.
• Maintain quality and accuracy of IBP-related master data.
• Collaborate with Territory Managers, Area Business Managers and Marketing to align forecasts.
• Ensure coordination between demand, commercial and supply teams through the planning cycle.

About the role

The Specialist – Planning is responsible for supporting demand planning activities across the AusPac region, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate forecasting, data integrity, and continuous improvement of planning processes. The role supports the implementation of regional planning standards and procedures while helping site planning teams operate effectively and consistently. This position plays a key role in balancing cost and service objectives through the efficient planning of specialised products supplied to the mining and civil construction industries.

What you will be doing

• Accountable for detailed demand analysis and forecast enrichment recommendations to ensure forecasts are balanced, accurate, and aligned with business objectives.
• Enhance sales forecast models by reviewing historical sales trends, managing statistical forecasting parameters, and summarizing forecast plans.
• Adhere to the S&OP calendar and meet all demand planning deadlines and requirements.
• Lead weekly and monthly communications with cross-functional stakeholders, identifying key assumptions, risks, and opportunities that may impact customer demand.
• Maintain the quality and accuracy of IBP-related master data.
• Collaborate with Territory Managers (TMs), Area Business Managers (ABMs), and Marketing teams to coordinate and align sales forecasts.
• Ensure effective communication and coordination between demand, commercial, and supply teams throughout the business planning cycle.

What you will bring

• Bachelor’s degree in business, Statistics, Supply Chain, or a related quantitative discipline, with experience across multiple supply chain functions.
• 5-7 years of experience in Supply Chain, Demand Planning, or a related field.
• Strong supply chain planning expertise with a solid understanding of MRP, demand and supply planning, and forecasting processes.
• Experience with SAP systems, with exposure to Advanced Planning and IBP modules highly regarded.
• Advanced proficiency in planning systems and data-driven technologies, including SAP S/4HANA, IBP, Advanced Excel, and Power BI, with strong analytical and data visualization skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to communicate demand insights effectively to a wide range of stakeholders.
• Strong ability to plan and execute tasks independently, demonstrating integrity, accountability, and sound business acumen to identify and drive key success factors.
