Responsibilities

• Execute asset accounting processes and ensure compliance across served countries (GBS entities).
• Capitalize, sell, dispose and modify assets as required.
• Handle asset retirement by scrapping.
• Plan and monitor month-end closings, including depreciation runs and GL reconciliation.
• Manage CapEx projects through the investment lifecycle (approval, structuring, opening, maintenance, closing).
• Provide user requirements for system development and maintenance; verify system accuracy.
• Define and maintain general system settings (asset classes, capitalization rules).
• Supervise day-to-day asset accounting operations for subledger owners.
• Deliver first-level support for Asset Accounting topics to assigned companies.
• Conduct periodic standard checks (closed cost centers, assets not entered, ASC).
• Implement corrective actions with documentation and archiving of issues.
• Support and liaise with external/internal audits.
• Contribute to defined special projects or work packages.

Job description

The position holder is responsible for the execution, compliance and maintenance of Asset Accounting related standards, processes and procedures being part of the GBS service portfolio (in close cooperation with GBSC Ingelheim, Local and Corporate Finance). He/she supports the GBS Deployment Team during the implementation of new countries/entities being integrated into GBS e.g. by conducting end-user trainings and testing. In addition, he/she performs the Asset Accounting and CapEx related periodic routines for GBS legal entities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform Asset Accounting processes and ensure compliance in all served countries (GBS legal entities)
• Capitalization, sale, disposal and modification of assets
• Asset retirement by scrapping
• Plan, perform and monitor month-end closing procedures such as depreciation runs or sub ledger to GL reconciliations
• Handling of CapEx projects during the entire investment life cycle (approval, structuring, opening, maintenance and closing)
• Provide user requirements for system development and maintenance and check systems for accuracy
• Definition and maintenance of general system settings (e.g. customized asset classes, capitalization rules)
• Supervise the day-to-day business (e.g. check open-item accounts for wrong postings)
• First level support for Asset Accounting related topics for the assigned companies to the subledger responsibles
• Periodic standard checks (e.g. closed cost center, not entered assets, assets under construction)
• Corrective actions if necessary including documentation and archiving of the respective issues
• Support and liason with the audit
• Prepare and contribute in defined special projects, topics and/or working packages
• Review of changes in accounting principles for assigned comprehensive tasks
• Preparation of necessary implementation efforts;
• Support the integration of OPUs and functions into the GBSC

Requirements:

• Minimum 2-3 years of professional experience in Accounting-department of a large-scale enterprise or in a public financial auditing company
