Job summary

Arcadis is seeking a Software Support Specialist II Automation Engineer to advance automation across Engineering Applications. You will build scripts, automate onboarding and monitoring, and develop AI-enabled solutions to improve operations across global teams.

You will work on integrations, platform modernization, and scalable automation. Strong scripting, Power Platform, and Azure experience are essential, with a focus on reliability and governance.

Qualifications

• 2+ years hands-on experience in application engineering, automation, or DevOps within enterprise environments.
• Strong scripting and automation with PowerShell and Python; experience building reusable scripts and tools.
• Good experience with Power Platform, REST APIs, Azure services, connectors, data flows, and integration patterns.
• Experience with AI/Copilot technologies (e.g., Microsoft Copilot Studio or Azure AI) is highly desirable.
• Experience supporting SaaS, cloud and enterprise apps in an operations environment, preferably in engineering or project delivery platforms.
• Familiarity with engineering applications (Autodesk, Bentley, Esri ArcGIS or similar) is desirable.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across apps, integrations, access, and automation workflows.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with global teams.
• Excellent communication to explain technical solutions to diverse stakeholders.
• Degree in IT/CS/Software Eng or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Role description:

The Software Support Specialist II Automation Engineer will support Engineering Applications by developing automation & AI agents, improving operational processes, supporting platform activities, and helping deliver reliable technical solutions across global teams.

Role accountabilities:

• Build automation scripts, workflows and tools using PowerShell, Python, Power Platform, REST APIs and Azure services to improve Engineering Applications operations.
• Automate repetitive support, onboarding, deployment, monitoring, reporting and governance activities to reduce manual workload and improve service consistency.
• Develop practical AI and Copilot-enabled solutions, including assistants, knowledge workflows, data lookups and operational process automation.
• Support and improve core Engineering Applications platforms, including automation around access, configuration, health checks, integration and lifecycle management.
• Create and maintain integrations between Engineering Applications, business systems, ServiceNow/Jira, cloud platforms and data sources using APIs, connectors and secure data flows.
• Improve reliability through technical monitoring, alerting, dashboards, automated checks and clear operational reporting.
• Support application modernisation, cloud adoption, platform migrations and automation of application delivery processes.
• Create reusable automation components, templates, runbooks and technical standards for the Engineering Applications Operations team.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues across engineering applications, integrations, cloud services and automation workflows.
• Lead proof-of-concepts and small technical pilots to test new automation, AI and platform engineering opportunities.
• Work closely with global Engineering Applications teams, to deliver scalable operational improvements.
• Define and track automation KPIs, including manual effort reduction, process cycle time, platform reliability and productivity improvements.

Qualifications & Experience:

• 2+ years of hands-on experience in application engineering, automation engineering, platform operations, DevOps or enterprise application management.
• Strong scripting and automation experience with PowerShell and Python, including building reusable scripts, modules, scheduled jobs or operational tools.
• Good technical experience with Power Platform, REST APIs, Azure services, connectors, data flows and integration patterns.
• Experience working with AI/Copilot technologies, Microsoft Copilot Studio or Azure AI Services is highly desirable.
• Experience supporting SaaS, cloud and enterprise applications in an operations environment, ideally within engineering, design or project delivery platforms.
• Experience with AEC and engineering applications such as Autodesk, Bentley, Esri ArcGIS, or similar platforms is desirable.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across applications, integrations, user access, automation workflows, monitoring and platform services.
• Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, Git, infrastructure automation or configuration management is preferred.
• Able to work independently as a technical contributor while collaborating with global teams.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical solutions clearly to operations, platform and business stakeholders.
• Degree level education in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
