You will be reporting to the Engineering Manager at Direct Consumer Experiences- India Technology Centre, who will guide you to grow and build your career path. You will be directly working within a team of dedicated engineers that work on the same solutions. You share your experience and technical expertise such that we improve on the longer-term technical strategic direction.

As a Senior Software Engineer in the Store Engineering team, you will build and support store checkout solutions, including robust offline capabilities to ensure uninterrupted store operations. You will develop integration platforms connecting pricing, promotions, and tax systems to deliver accurate, scalable, and reliable in-store transaction processing across global environments.

As part of the Store Engineering team, you will focus on building and evolving store checkout platforms that integrate with key retail systems such as pricing, promotions, and tax engines to enable accurate and reliable transaction processing. Our mission is to modernize store systems by developing cloud-native services and scalable integration platforms that support omni-channel retail scenarios across global markets.

Our solutions are designed to handle high transaction volumes while ensuring low latency, high availability, and operational reliability. We also invest in robust offline capabilities to ensure uninterrupted store operations during network disruptions, enabling consistent consumer experiences.

You will work with cross-functional teams to enhance store checkout performance, enable seamless integrations, and deliver resilient, scalable solutions that support millions of transactions and power Nike’s retail stores worldwide.

In this role, you will

  • Participate in technical development and delivery of backend cloud native micro services

  • Contribute ideas for new features and identifying technical areas for improvement proactively collaborating with product team members at Nike to design, develop, and deploy a highly scalable retail store system and services.

  • You will use your in-depth experience in software development to write clean, tested, and well-documented code, as well as perform peer code review process and mentor other engineers on the team.

  • You will remain current with industry trends and participate in development of key innovation features.

  • You will support the team's agile practices, promoting continuous improvement and collaboration to deliver top-notch consumer experiences at scale.

  • Leverage GenAI powered capabilities (RAG, prompt driven workflows, MCP and spec driven architectures) to deliver faster, scalable, intelligent capabilities & experiences

  • Ensure quality of the code and products throughout the entire development lifecycle (DevOps)

  • Ensure continuous improvement in performance, scalability, extensibility, reliability, usability, and availability of the platform

  • Leverage agile methodology concepts for quality, delivery and continuous improvement

  • Participate in sprint planning and other scrum ceremonies. Help team plan and execute sprint tickets

  • Work in full DevOps model in the entire tech stack including designing, implementing, deploying, monitoring, and operating services at scale

  • Resolve technical issues and remove blockers for the team

  • Actively participate in code review and feedback for other developers

  • Own build, test, release, and production support for team-owned capabilities, ensuring stability, incident resolution, and continuous improvement

  • Implement strong observability and operational readiness using Splunk and SignalFx, including monitoring and alerting

WHAT YOU BRING

As a Senior Software Engineer for the Geographies & Marketplace Experiences team, you will be part of a mission critical team focused on building a high-throughput, low-latency, fault-tolerant Store checkout and integration platform.

  • A minimum of 3+ years software development experience.

  • Experience working in a highly collaborative, multi-discipline development team environment

  • 2+ years of experience working in an AWS cloud environment

  • Experience in micro service architecture, domain driven design, and RESTful Services using

  • Strong experience in Java with Spring Boot framework (mandatory)

  • Experience in Node JS and Golang

  • Demonstrate an AI-first mindset, actively leveraging AI powered developer tools (e.g., copilot, Cursor) to accelerate development and learning.

  • Experience in Test Driven development – with Junit, Mockito, cucumber, Playwright etc.,

  • Experience with observability, monitoring and tracing tools like Splunk, SignalFx, Kibana/Grafana etc.

  • Experience working with NoSQL data stores like DynamoDB and relational data stores like MySQL, Oracle etc.

  • Experience with continuous integration, unit testing, static analysis, and automated integration tests. Continuous delivery experience preferred.

  • Working knowledge of Scrum and agile principles.

  • Working in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment with globally distributed and diverse teams

  • Demonstrate end-to-end ownership of project/capabilities that includes requirements evaluation, design, implementation, code reviews, observability, maintenance and support.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or other relevant subject area, or equivalent experience

  • Experience with CI/CD (Jenkins) and engineering hygiene: GitHub workflows (branching, PR reviews, code quality, collaboration) and release readiness

  • Observability and operational readiness using Splunk and SignalFx, including monitoring and alerting

  • Experience delivering Generative AI–based solutions or projects.

The following would be nice-to-have:

  • Experience in designing and implementing highly scalable web applications

  • Exposure to Point of Sale, eCommerce and Supply Chain domain areas like checkout, order management, fulfilment, and warehouse management

  • Experience as a Full Stack Developer with strong expertise across both backend services and frontend web applications.
