Job summary

ViewQwest in the Philippines is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Information Systems team. You will work across full-stack development and internal tooling, taking ownership of features end-to-end and contributing to technical decisions.

You will apply AI/LLM tools to real engineering problems, from AI-assisted workflows to features that call AI APIs. The role emphasizes hands-on development with React frontend and PHP/Laravel backend, APIs, and system integrations.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of professional software development experience.
• Solid understanding of REST APIs and integrating third-party systems.
• Experience using AI coding tools (Cursor, ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot) for coding, debugging, or documentation.
• Familiarity with how LLMs/AI APIs work and integrating them into features.
• Proficient with Git and standard version control workflows (branching, code reviews).
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently on well-scoped tasks.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across product, QA, and engineering teams.

This role suits an engineer with a few years of hands-on experience who can work independently, occasionally guide junior teammates, and has practical experience applying AI/LLM tools to real engineering problems — from AI-assisted development workflows to building features that call AI APIs.

Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain features across front-end (React) and back-end (PHP/Laravel or similar) applications with minimal supervision
• Implement and maintain APIs and third-party integrations (billing systems, ticketing, messaging, identity verification, etc.)
• Write clean, testable, well-documented code and actively participate in code reviews
• Use AI coding assistants (e.g., Cursor, Claude, Copilot) effectively as part of your daily workflow, and help share best practices with the team
• Build AI-powered features — e.g., calling LLM APIs for text processing, summarization, or automation — with some autonomy over implementation approach
• Debug and troubleshoot moderately complex issues across the stack, including with the help of AI tools where appropriate
• Provide guidance and code review feedback to junior engineers

Requirements:

• 2–4 years of professional software development experience
• Good understanding of REST APIs and experience integrating third-party systems
• Practical experience using AI coding tools (Cursor, ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, etc.) for coding, debugging, or documentation
• Working understanding of how LLMs/AI APIs work (prompts, tokens, basic tool use) and some experience integrating them into features
• Comfortable with Git and standard version control workflows, including branching and code review processes
• Good problem-solving skills and ability to work independently on well-scoped tasks
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across product, QA, and other engineering teams

Nice to Have:

• Experience working in AI-assisted IDEs like Cursor for codebase navigation and refactoring
• Exposure to workflow automation tools (e.g., n8n, Zapier)
• Some experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers
• Experience shipping AI-powered features (OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar APIs) in a production environment
