Job summary

Our client is embarking on a data platform project to consolidate historical and current member data within the Enterprise Data Warehouse, replacing the existing solution with a scalable architecture. The tester will validate data across migration, transformation, and ETL/ELT processes, working closely with data architects, engineers and business SMEs to ensure data quality and traceability.

Job description

Our client is undertaking a data platform project to bring historical and current member data together and provide a more complete view of the member journey.

The project involves bringing data from multiple historical and current systems into the Enterprise Data Warehouse. The existing solution is being replaced with a more scalable capability aligned to data warehouse standards.

The project is currently kicking off, and the successful tester will work closely with data architects, data engineers, business SMEs and the Enterprise Data Warehouse platform owner.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for validating data across the platform, including migration, transformation and ETL/ELT processes. They must be highly comfortable working directly with data using advanced SQL and investigating discrepancies in detail.

The client is looking for someone who can independently identify data quality issues, understand transformation and business rules, perform reconciliation and clearly communicate defects and findings.

Must-Have Technical Experience

1. Snowflake

• Strong hands‑on experience testing data platforms built on Snowflake
• Experience validating data within Snowflake environments
• Comfortable investigating data directly within the platform

2. Advanced SQL

• Advanced SQL skills are essential
• Ability to write complex queries for data validation and reconciliation
• Able to investigate discrepancies and trace issues through the data

3. Data Migration & Transformation Testing

• Experience testing large-scale data migration and transformation programs
• Validation of transformed and conformed data

4. Data Warehousing

Strong understanding of:

• Data warehouse concepts
• Data Vault

5. ETL / ELT Testing

• Experience validating ETL/ELT pipelines
• Ability to validate business transformation rules
• Understanding of how data moves from source systems through transformation into the data warehouse

6. Data Quality Testing

Hands‑on experience validating:

• Accuracy
• Consistency

7. Regression Testing

• Strong experience performing regression testing in data environments
• Ability to identify downstream impacts when data, transformations or business rules change

8. Test Automation & CI/CD

• Experience with test automation for data platforms
• Understanding of automated data testing
• Experience working with CI/CD processes

The candidate also needs:

• Excellent attention to detail
• Strong stakeholder communication
• Ability to explain technical findings clearly
• Ability to challenge assumptions and ask the right questions
• Ability to work independently when investigating data issues

Nice to Have:

• Experience working with member data
• Experience with large-scale historical data
• Experience consolidating data from multiple legacy platforms

Financial services or superannuation experience is highly regarded but not required.
