About the role
Henedroit Inc. is seeking a skilled SMSF and Tax Accountant to join our growing team on a full-time basis. This is a work-from-home position with day-shift hours, offering flexibility whilst maintaining professional excellence. In this role, you will provide specialised taxation and self-managed superannuation fund (SMSF) accounting services to a diverse clientele, ensuring compliance and optimising tax outcomes. This position is crucial to our service delivery, directly contributing to client satisfaction and the firm's reputation for technical expertise in the taxation sector.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and lodge Self-Managed Superannuation Fund (SMSF) tax returns and financial statements in compliance with Australian Taxation Office (ATO) requirements
- Conduct SMSF compliance audits and provide recommendations to enhance fund administration and governance
- Prepare individual and corporate tax returns, ensuring accuracy and adherence to current tax legislation
- Advise clients on tax planning strategies, deductions and entitlements to minimise tax liability
- Manage tax compliance documentation, including maintenance of working papers and client files
- Respond to ATO correspondence and taxation matters, representing clients' interests professionally
- Stay current with changes to taxation legislation and SMSF regulations, applying updates to client work
- Collaborate with senior accountants and tax specialists to ensure quality control and technical accuracy
- Communicate complex tax concepts clearly to clients with varying levels of financial knowledge
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics standards throughout all client engagements
What we're looking for
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or equivalent professional designation (CPA, CA, or similar recognised qualification)
- Minimum 2-3 years' experience in taxation accounting, with demonstrated expertise in SMSF administration
- Strong knowledge of Australian taxation law, SMSF compliance requirements and ATO regulations
- Proficiency with accounting software and tax lodgement systems (familiarity with current Australian tax software is essential)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with meticulous attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain tax matters to diverse audiences
- Ability to work independently within a remote environment whilst collaborating effectively with the team
- Commitment to continuous professional development and staying abreast of regulatory changes
- Professional integrity and a commitment to confidentiality and compliance
- Experience with tax planning and advisory services is highly desirable
