Job summary

SMEC (An SJ Group Company) in the Philippines seeks a civil/structural engineer to oversee bridge construction projects, ensuring work aligns with approved drawings, specifications and contract requirements.

You will review contractor output, conduct site inspections, monitor progress, and coordinate with stakeholders to resolve technical issues while upholding safety and environmental standards.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil & Structural Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5–10 years of relevant experience in bridge, highway or major infrastructure projects.
  • Experience in supervision, QA and contract administration for bridge works.
  • Strong knowledge of bridge construction methods, structural engineering principles and DPWH specs.
  • Familiarity with reinforced/prestressed concrete, steel bridges, foundations and piling.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and monitor bridge construction activities to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications and contract requirements.

  • Coordinate with contractors, clients, designers and stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
  • Identify construction defects, non-conformances and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain project records, site reports and inspection documentation.
  • Support project delivery by ensuring bridge works are completed safely, on time and to quality.
  • Ensures all activities, equipment and facilities comply with Health, Safety and Environmental policies.
  • Comply with the company's QA and BMS procedures.
  • Perform reasonable other tasks assigned by Reporting Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

Key Qualifications:


  • Degree in Civil & Structural Engineering or its equivalent

  • Minimum 5-10 years of relevant experience in bridge, highway, or major infrastructure projects.

  • Experience in construction supervision, quality assurance, and contract administration for bridge works.

  • Strong knowledge of bridge construction methods, structural engineering principles, and DPWH specifications.

  • Familiarity with reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, steel bridges, foundations, piling, and structural rehabilitation works.

  • Ability to review engineering drawings, calculations, technical specifications, and contractor submittals.

  • Knowledge of quality control procedures, construction safety requirements, and project management practices.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, coordination, and decision-making skills.

  • Excellent communication, report writing, and stakeholder management abilities.

  • Proficiency in engineering and project management software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MS Office, MS Project).

  • Willing to accept Project-base status.
