Job summary
The Crane Electrical Technician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of electrical and electronic systems on shipboard cranes. The incumbent tests, troubleshoots, and inspects power distribution, PLCs, and instrumentation, consulting with the electrical engineer on repairs and safety matters.
He/she performs preventative maintenance, documents outcomes, supports dry-dock projects, and handles remote and onboard troubleshooting of control systems.
Qualifications
- College education in electrical discipline.
- Philippine or Overseas certifications related to the function.
- Proven experience with 24V DC & 415V AC 3-phase systems.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in related fields.
- Experience in crane operations and maintenance preferred.
- Electrical: 415V AC 3-phase motor contactor control circuits.
- Mechanical: drive couplings, brakes, gearboxes.
Responsibilities
- Inspect electrical and electronic systems onboard (crane).
- Provide onboard and remote inspections; gather manuals, specs and records.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and test electrical/electronic systems as needed.
- Replace faulty components following safety guidelines and document work.
- Update reports and monitor component lifespans; assist with procurements.
