Job summary

Speechify is seeking an experienced Windows desktop engineer to lead design, architecture, and development across native Windows applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and potentially C++.

You will drive best practices, accessibility, and collaboration with product, UX, QA, and other stakeholders to shape the Windows platform roadmap. The role requires ownership of features end-to-end and strong problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in Windows desktop application development using Windows App SDK, WinUI or similar, C#, XAML; bonus with native Windows code (C++, Win32/WinRT/COM).
• Strong understanding of Windows architecture, including interop between managed and native code.
• Proven track record shipping production-quality desktop apps with focus on reliability, performance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Experience with accessibility APIs on Windows and building accessible software.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications using Windows App SDK and WinUI, with C# and potentially C++.
• Define and enforce best practices for code architecture, performance, memory usage, and cross-version compatibility.
• Drive accessibility efforts: ensure UI controls, focus management, keyboard navigation, screen-reader support.
• Collaborate with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and stakeholders to shape feature planning and roadmap for Windows platform.
• Own full lifecycle of features from conception to release and maintenance.
• Diagnose and resolve complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, and rendering issues.
