Job summary

Virtual CTO is seeking a Senior UI/UX App Designer on a contract basis to shape digital experiences for mobile and web apps in a fast-paced environment. You will establish design standards, drive creative vision, and collaborate with product, engineering and stakeholders to deliver compelling interfaces.

The role emphasizes a strategic approach to user interface and user experience, ensuring intuitive interactions and alignment with business objectives.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional experience in UI/UX design or interaction design, with a portfolio demonstrating expertise in app design.
• Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch or similar industry-standard software
• Strong understanding of user-centred design principles, design thinking and usability best practices
• Proven experience with user research methodologies, wireframing, prototyping and user testing
• Excellent visual design skills with a keen eye for typography, colour theory, layout and visual hierarchy
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and communicate design concepts effectively
• Experience with design systems, component libraries and design documentation
• Knowledge of responsive and adaptive design principles for multiple platforms and devices
• Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to balance user needs with business objectives
• Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design practices is desirable
• Experience with agile development methodologies is highly valued

Responsibilities

• Design and develop user interfaces and user experiences for mobile and web applications, ensuring consistency with brand guidelines and design systems
• Conduct user research and usability testing to inform design decisions and validate design concepts
• Create wireframes, prototypes and high-fidelity mockups using industry-standard design tools
• Collaborate closely with product managers, developers and stakeholders to translate requirements into compelling design solutions
• Establish and maintain design patterns, component libraries and design documentation for ongoing use across projects
• Provide design leadership and mentorship to junior designers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation
• Participate in design reviews and present design rationale to cross-functional teams
• Stay current with emerging design trends, technologies and best practices in UI/UX design
• Optimise user journeys and interface interactions to enhance user satisfaction and product engagement
