Senior Technical Production Artist (Product & Packaging)
Job Description: Senior Technical Production Artist (Product & Packaging)
About the Role
We are looking for a highly technical and detail-oriented Senior Technical Production Artist (Product & Packaging) to join our Philippines team.
This role serves as a senior technical resource within the Production Art team, with particular responsibility for complex packaging, prepress, mechanical drawings, and production-ready artwork. You will be a critical link between the creative design phase and the manufacturing process, ensuring designs are accurately translated into technically sound, production-ready files.
This role does not initially carry formal people-management responsibility. Seniority in this position is based primarily on depth of technical expertise, independent problem-solving, and the ability to raise technical standards across the team.
We are looking for someone who can operate independently on complex technical work while also sharing knowledge and supporting the development of other Production Artists. As the team evolves, there may be opportunities to take on broader leadership responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Production Ownership
- Create technically accurate production art files, mechanical drawings, packaging dielines, and other production-ready artwork used for product sampling and manufacturing.
- Take ownership of technically complex or high-risk production work requiring deeper packaging, prepress, or manufacturing knowledge.
- Ensure files meet appropriate production specifications and are accurate, complete, and ready for manufacturing.
Technical Problem Solving & Escalation
- Serve as a technical resource for the Production Art team when complex production, packaging, prepress, or mechanical issues arise.
- Identify potential production issues before files are released and recommend practical solutions.
- Partner with Designers, Art Directors, Product Development, and manufacturing partners to resolve technical questions and translate creative intent into manufacturable solutions.
Technical Standards & Quality
- Help establish and maintain best practices for packaging dielines, mechanical drawings, prepress, file setup, and production readiness.
- Support consistency and accuracy across Production Art output through technical guidance and review when appropriate.
- Identify opportunities to improve technical workflows, reduce production errors, and strengthen team capabilities.
Design & Product Development Support
- Provide technical support to Art Directors and Designers on product renderings, physical mock-ups, packaging, presentation tools, and other development needs.
- Apply an understanding of the physical product development cycle and manufacturing constraints when developing production solutions.
- Share technical knowledge, best practices, and problem-solving approaches with other Production Artists.
- Provide technical coaching and mentorship when appropriate while supporting a collaborative team environment.
- Demonstrate leadership through ownership, judgment, communication, reliability, and willingness to help strengthen the broader team.
- While this role does not initially include formal people management, we value candidates with the potential and interest to take on broader leadership responsibilities as the team evolves.
- Attend and actively participate in meetings with the U.S. team to ensure alignment on project specifications and timelines.
- Create and manage item numbers within WFX (PLM) and assist with sample revisions as requested by buyers or manufacturing partners.
- Communicate technical risks, questions, and blockers clearly and proactively.
Mandatory Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience creating packaging dielines.
- Strong prepress knowledge, including print specifications such as bleed, margins, crop marks, and production-ready artwork.
- Solid understanding of isometric and orthographic drawings.
- Expert proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop, specifically for technically accurate mechanical drawings, production art files, and packaging dielines.
- Bachelor of Arts in Product / Industrial Design or a related technical field.
- Proven experience working through the physical product development cycle.
- Ability to independently diagnose and solve technical production problems.
- Experience working with global teams across time zones and the ability to work independently under pressure.
- Strong communication skills and willingness to share knowledge and support other team members.
Highly Valued Skills
Candidates with experience in the following areas are highly valued and may be prioritized:
- 3D Software: Proficiency in rendering or modeling software such as Rhino or SolidWorks.
- PLM/WFX: Experience with Product Information Management / PLM systems such as WFX for creating and managing item numbers.
- Material Knowledge: Specific knowledge of ceramic manufacturing processes and constraints.
- Leadership Potential: Experience mentoring, coaching, training, or serving as a technical resource for other team members.
