Job summary

SMX is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer / ISR Communications professional to design, implement, operate, secure, and troubleshoot enterprise network infrastructure. Candidates should have hands-on Cisco routing, switching, firewall, and Juniper experience, with adherence to DISA STIGs and RMF/ATO processes.

This role requires the ability to resolve complex network issues independently and to coordinate with cybersecurity teams and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on network engineering experience in enterprise or DoD environments.
• Extensive experience with Cisco routing, switching, firewall, and network services.
• Working knowledge of Juniper Junos, SSR, and Mist platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, operate, and troubleshoot enterprise LAN/WAN networks (routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs).
• Support Cisco and Juniper environments with configuration, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management.
• Develop and maintain network diagrams, IP plans, and change documentation.
• Apply DISA STIGs and RMF/ATO controls to secure networks.
• Lead outage response, incident resolution, and post-incident reviews.
