Qualifications

• Design of reinforced concrete footings for tanks, pumps and other process equipment.
• Familiarity with Australian design process and standards.
• Ability to write engineering reports.
• Strong English communication skills.

Responsibilities

Overview

The position of Senior Structural Engineer is to assist with engineering design work on projects within the Australian mining industry. Typical projects include steel and concrete structures to support process and non-process facilities, plant services, rail and port facilities.

Candidates are to demonstrate the following experience

• Australian project design experience within Mining/Heavy Industry: (targets)
• Design of steel buildings and building footings,
• Design of industrial floors, walkways and access ways,
• Design of crane runways and/or monorail beams,
• Design of steel storage tanks/silos,
• Design of reinforced concrete footings for tanks, pumps, and other process equipment,
• Design of trafficable floor slabs in open areas as well as for buildings,
• Design of reinforced concrete retaining walls and tanks.
• Familiarity with Australian design process – civil/structural engineering
• Working knowledge of Australian design standards: (targets)
• AS1170 – all parts for estimating design loads on structures,
• AS1657 – platforms, walkways and stairways,
• AS4100 & AS4600 & AS3990 – design of steel structures,
• AS3600 – design of concrete structures,
• CCAAT48 – Guide to Industrial Floors and Pavements,
• AS4678 – design of soil retaining structures.
• Working knowledge of Space Gass (structural analyses & design software):
• Steel structures modelling, analyses and member design to AS4100/AS3990/AS4600,
• Concrete structures modelling and analyses using plate elements on elastic supports,
• Modelling and analyses for static and dynamic loads including seismic analysis.
• Working knowledge of Strand 7 (finite element analyses software):
• Modelling and analyses of steel and concrete structures for static and dynamic loads
• Working knowledge of MS Excel for engineering calculations: (essential)
