Job summary

Optum, a UnitedHealth Group Company, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Manila to design scalable, high‑performance software systems and lead architectural decisions across teams. You will collaborate with product managers, mentor junior engineers, and drive code reviews and quality assurance across projects.

The role involves testing, debugging, and continuous improvement of development processes in a global health technology environment.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of ORMB software development experience.
• Proven experience in designing, developing, and deploying complex software systems.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Experience in leveraging AI/ML in software solutioning.
• Sound knowledge on Latest AI Capabilities - RAG , Agentic Development , Gen AI.
• Sound knowledge of Java.
• Knowledge of databases (SQL and NoSQL) and API design (REST, GraphQL).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).

Primary Responsibilities:

• Software Design & Architecture - Design scalable, maintainable, and high-performance software systems
• Make architectural decisions and review designs from other engineers
• Coding & Development - Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code
• Lead by example in coding best practices and standards
• Code Review & Quality Assurance - Conduct code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to standards
• Mentor junior developers through constructive feedback
• Testing & Debugging - Develop and maintain unit, integration, and system tests
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex bugs and performance issues
  Project Leadership - Lead technical projects from conception to deployment
• Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to define requirements
• Mentorship & Team Development - Mentor junior and mid-level engineers
• Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement
• Cross-Functional Collaboration - Work closely with QA, DevOps, UX/UI, and product teams
• Communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Innovation & Continuous Improvement - Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends
• Propose and implement improvements to development processes and tools
