Job summary

Navitaire is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to drive technical excellence across the software lifecycle, translate business needs into robust solutions, and promote engineering best practices within an Agile, cross‑functional team.

You’ll contribute to frontend and backend development with Web and Mobile App SDKs, participate in Scrum ceremonies, and help deliver secure, scalable digital platforms for Navitaire customers.

Purpose of the role

The Senior Software Development Engineer is an experienced engineer who drives technical excellence throughout the software development lifecycle. The role is responsible for translating business requirements into robust technical solutions, contributing to solution and design decisions, performing complex software development tasks, and supporting the successful delivery of customer engagements. The position also promotes engineering best practices, code quality, and continuous improvement across project teams.

The Senior Software Development Engineer will contribute to coding, testing, releasing, supporting, and troubleshooting solutions built using Navitaire’s Web and Mobile App Software Development Kits (SDKs), and bespoke digital solutions developed to meet specific customer needs. The SDKs are collections of software framework libraries developed by Navitaire, serving as the foundation for creating applications that deliver innovative and seamless digital experiences to passengers.

• The Web App SDK enables rapid development of Single Page Application (SPA) website

• The Mobile App SDK enables rapid development of a cross-platform (.NET MAUI) powered native mobile experience for Apple iOS and Google Android.

• Bespoke solutions may include fully customized digital solutions, features, or integrations tailored to specific customer requirements.

The Senior Software Development Engineer works closely with a scrum team comprising of a Technical Architect/Development Lead, Business Analyst, UX Designer, Scrum Master, Developers and QA Engineers. The role requires strong technical and analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively in an Agile development environment.

In this role you’ll:

• Be part of an Agile Scrum team of technical, functional, and business domain experts to design, develop, and deliver consumer-facing digital solutions that help Navitaire customers maximize their digital presence.

• Actively participate in Scrum ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, providing technical input and recommendations.

• Design, develop, test, troubleshoot, and maintain frontend and backend solutions following Navitaire architecture, security, and coding standards.

• Translate designs and wireframes into responsive, performant, and maintainable application experiences.

• Provide support during deployments, releases, and production implementation activities. Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve complex production issues in accordance with team processes and service level objectives.

• Functional testing and using and/or writing diagnostic programs to ensure optimal performance of developed solutions.

• Build deep functional expertise in assigned customer projects, the Navitaire Reservation System, and the Navitaire Digital Platform.

• Conduct performance, scalability, reliability, and security assessments and implement appropriate improvements.

• Contribute to reusable frameworks, accelerators, reference implementations, and engineering best practices that improve delivery efficiency.

• Contribute in training and assisting scrum/project teammates in various aspects of the work.

• Leverage AI-assisted development tools and modern engineering practices to improve developer productivity, accelerate solution delivery, enhance code quality, and identify innovative customer solutions.

• Evaluate opportunities to incorporate AI-powered capabilities, automation, and intelligent solutions into customer engagements where appropriate.

About the ideal candidate:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Data Science or equivalent experience.

• Professional programming experience in .Net MAUI.

• Nice to have: Mobile app mobile development native (Java, Kotlin, Swift, Objective C, etc.) or cross-platform (React Native, Flutter); or strong C# .Net experience.

• Comfortable in working in an Agile environment that promotes active communication, feedback, and flexibility.

• Comfortable in working directly with colleagues, stakeholders and customers from different cultures.

• Capable of learning new things and quickly become proficient as technology and the team’s priorities change.
