WSP Manila Inc. is seeking a Senior Electrical Designer to join the Power & Energy team. You will lead design drafting with a focus on protection, control and SCADA, delivering high-quality work on time and mentoring junior team members.

The role requires independence and teamwork, delivering designs using AutoCAD, MicroStation and Revit while supporting projects globally. You will contribute to landmark projects and advance technical capabilities within the group.

Qualifications

• Typically, 8-11 years’ experience in electrical design
• Experience in protection, control and SCADA systems
• Proficiency with 2D drafting software and standards

Main Activities and Responsibilities:

• Analyze client requirements for the design criteria to ensure that all appropriate specifications are included in the design requirements. Reviews the design requirements by considering the impact on the plan/design of all development and implementation factors, including constraints and risks.
• Coaches colleagues to use appropriate design tools and techniques and the identified design standards. Creates designs for non-standard, complex projects. Leads the application of technical expertise in new situations or contexts.
• Implements quality control process to ensure that the design meets the project requirements and that the documentation is kept up to date.
• Seeks a range of information sources to develop and strengthen present design. Negotiates and implements
• recommendations for improving processes and/or technologies. Develops, implements and coaches colleagues in the new design practices. Keeps abreast of technical innovations in the industry.
• Deliver projects under strict timescales with uncompromised quality
• Deliver drafted designs to meet WSP and Client requirements. Typical software platforms include AutoCAD, Microstation and Revit
• Comply with all role specific SHEQ obligations.
• Lead and foster a good safety culture to ensure the safety and well-being of all staff within the team.
• Foster an engaged and high performing workforce, with a focus on mentoring, training and development.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues from all parts of the WSP business.
• Ensure compliance with all corporate governance, business system, quality and risk management obligations.

Qualifications

• Typically, 8-11 years plus’ experience.

Key Competencies and Skills

• Developing technical skills across a broad range of areas within the discipline.
• High level of design/drafting & detailing skills.
• High level of knowledge in Secondary Electrical Design
• High level of use and understanding of 2D software and how it applies.
• Prepares engineering drawing deliverables from sketches, without assistance.
• Experienced in implementing protection, control and SCADA designs. Working with the engineers to develop the high-level designs, then work independently to develop detailed wiring schematics, panel layouts and all other secondary detailed design drawings.
• Experience in writing scripts to automate repetitive drafting tasks, would be seen as favorable.
• Contributed to building the technical capability of junior staff. Acting as a mentor.
• Diploma of Engineering or Advanced Diploma of Engineering
• Periodic attendance at specific technical training courses, conferences, workshops.
