Job summary

SMEC (An SJ Group Company) invites an experienced claims professional to lead preparation of claims related to delays, disruptions, and scope gaps. You will perform forensic schedule analyses, gather evidence with engineering teams, and prepare narratives with cost substantiation.

You will interpret contract provisions (FIDIC/NEC), assess entitlements, and ensure compliance with notices and time bars across multi-package projects. Strong negotiation and reporting skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Law, Quantity Surveying, or related field; master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 8–12 years of claims and contractual experience, with 5+ years in railway/metro/large infrastructure projects.
• Strong background in delay analysis, claims preparation, and dispute resolution.
• Expertise in FIDIC and railway-sector contracting frameworks.
• Proven experience handling multi-package, multi-interface projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead claims preparation & analysis for delays, disruptions, productivity loss, and scope changes.
• Interpret contract conditions (FIDIC, NEC, bespoke rail contracts) and ensure notices/time bars compliance.
• Develop cost estimates, variation quantifications, prolongation costs, and disruption analyses.
• Support dispute avoidance with negotiation, meetings, and documentation for dispute boards/arbitration.
