Job summary

KY GREEN BUILDERS INC. seeks an Electrical Engineer to design solar PV systems for commercial and industrial projects in the Philippines.

You will create detailed designs, SLDs, layouts, and perform electrical calculations to ensure safety and PEC/compliance. Ideal candidates have 2–4 years in solar design, are proficient in AutoCAD, PVsyst, Excel and SketchUp, and are willing to conduct site visits to support project execution from concept to commissioning.

Qualifications

• Must be a Registered Electrical Engineer (REE) or Electrical Engineering graduate.
• Minimum of two (2) to four (4) years of experience in solar PV design.
• Strong knowledge of solar PV systems, electrical engineering principles, and renewable energy technologies.
• Preferably with experience in ground-mounted solar systems and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
• Proficient in AutoCAD, PVsyst, Microsoft Excel, SketchUp or equivalent design software.
• Familiarity with single-line diagram preparation, electrical calculations, utility interconnection requirements, PEC standards.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Willing to conduct site visits when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed solar PV system designs for commercial and industrial projects.
• Develop single-line diagrams (SLD), electrical layouts, string layouts, cable routing plans, and equipment layouts.
• Perform solar system calculations including cable sizing, circuit breaker sizing, voltage drop calculations, short circuit calculations, PV string sizing, and protection coordination.
• Conduct energy yield simulations and performance analysis using PVsyst or equivalent software.
• Design AC and DC systems in compliance with project requirements and applicable standards.
• Prepare grounding and lightning protection designs for solar PV systems.
• Prepare and review BOM, technical specifications, engineering calculations, as-built drawings, construction drawings, permit drawings.
• Ensure all drawings and technical documents are accurate, complete, and aligned with project requirements.
• Coordinate revisions and updates to engineering documents during project execution.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, procurement teams, and construction teams regarding technical requirements and design implementation.
• Provide technical support during project construction, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
• Attend technical meetings, client discussions, and coordination meetings when required.
• Assist in evaluating project feasibility, site conditions, and technical risks.
• Conduct site surveys and gather necessary technical data for system design and engineering.
• Verify project site conditions, electrical systems, and available installation areas.
• Ensure designs comply with PEC standards and utility interconnection requirements and local regulations.
• Coordinate with utility providers and regulatory agencies when necessary.
• Optimize system performance, equipment selection, and project cost efficiency.
• Ensure proper equipment compatibility and system reliability.
• Review and validate technical submittals and supplier specifications.
• Support quality assurance and quality control activities related to engineering and design.
