Job summary

Jobgether is seeking a Backend Team Lead (PHP) to build and lead an internal backend engineering team in Spain. You will drive the migration from legacy systems to a modern, scalable architecture and own backend delivery while maintaining high availability and security across gaming systems.

You will work hands-on, mentoring engineers and defining delivery standards, architecture, and CI/CD practices in a distributed, remote-friendly setup.

Qualifications

• Expert-level PHP and Laravel with refactoring for scalability.
• Experience migrating from legacy to modern architectures.
• Strong relational DB knowledge (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and Redis.
• Proven ability to lead high-performance backend teams.
• Experience with REST/GraphQL APIs and event-driven tech.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead the internal Backend Engineering team from the ground up.
• Mentor engineers and establish delivery standards and testing.
• Own PHP backend delivery and ensure security, availability, and performance.
• Translate long-term vision into scalable architecture with architects.
• Drive CI/CD adoption and modern engineering practices.
