Job summary

EPAM Systems is seeking a highly experienced Lead Operational Intelligence Engineer to lead, design, and optimize our observability platforms across multi-cloud environments. You will supervise Elastic Stack clusters, architect PoCs, and drive incident response, performance tuning, and cost optimization.

You will mentor engineers, implement IaC with Terraform and Ansible, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable solutions while maintaining excellent SLAs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Operational Intelligence with leadership in large-scale observability platforms.
• Proven ability to architect and manage Elastic clusters in multi-cloud environments.
• Deep knowledge of Elastic Stack components: Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash.
• Advanced Terraform and Ansible; familiarity with Jenkins CI or GitOps tools.
• Advanced Python scripting for automation and data processing.
• Strong incident management experience with PagerDuty and related tools.
• Experience scaling fault-tolerant platforms with security and compliance.
• Mentor and grow team members; bridge technical and non-technical teams.
• Excellent English communication skills (B2+).

Responsibilities

• Oversee availability, performance, security, and SLAs of observability and search platforms.
• Provide technical leadership during incidents and on-call resolutions.
• Develop and maintain platform docs, SOPs, and knowledge resources.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors on requirements, upgrades, and installations.
• Lead feature enhancements and self-service capabilities; drive AI-driven observability initiatives.
• Architect PoCs for platform innovation, including Kubernetes migrations and data processing models.
• Mentor team members, supervise Elastic clusters via IaC tools, and ensure best practices.
