Job summary

Manulife/John Hancock is seeking a seasoned Middleware Engineer to design and implement scalable, secure middleware solutions aligned with enterprise standards. You will partner with application, infra, and DevOps teams for integration patterns and cloud migration efforts.

The role requires 7+ years in middleware, strong WebSphere/WebLogic/Tomcat/IIS experience, and Azure cloud proficiency. Hybrid work model and L3 incident management are key aspects of this position.

Qualifications

• 7+ years experience in middleware engineering.
• Strong experience with middleware platforms: WebSphere, WebLogic, Tomcat, IIS.
• Solid experience with Azure or other cloud platforms and API patterns.
• Knowledge of integration patterns and cloud migration.
• Background in application development is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, secure middleware solutions aligned with enterprise standards.
• Collaborate with application, infra, and DevOps teams on integration patterns.
• Lead onboarding, modernization, and cloud migration design.
• Evaluate middleware technologies and architecture patterns.
• Serve as L3 escalation for middleware incidents and performance issues.
• Drive platform stability and proactive problem management.
• Engineer middleware across cloud Azure and on-prem environments.
• Implement HA, DR, and performance tuning strategies.
• Lead cloud-native middleware design using Azure services.
• Enforce security governance and TLS/certificate lifecycle practices.
