Job summary

RED Engineering Design in Manila is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our expanding M&E team. You will lead planning, review, and coordination of mechanical design activities for projects, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.

You will mentor junior staff, perform HVAC calculations following BS EN and UK standards, and contribute to the development of robust design solutions across the built environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor, MSc/MEng or PhD in appropriate engineering discipline.
• Ability to research.
• Ability to think innovatively.
• Good understanding of mechanical/electrical engineering from first principles.
• Ability to prioritize own workload.
• Ability to work to deadlines.
• Technical report writing skills.
• Sound knowledge of key Health & Safety issues and legislation
• Knowledge of MS Office applications word, excel, etc.
• Ability to use IT based calculation and spreadsheet software
• Basic working knowledge of CAD functionality
• Good understanding of BS EN standards / UK Regulations / Codes / UTI / UKGBC
• Good understanding of the world climate emergency
• Understanding of or willingness to develop modeling capabilities for system Reliability.
• Background in consulting or construction preferred.
• Good understanding of international working and business operations of a global consultancy.
• Act in an ethical manner and follow the principles of the Ethics Charter and Ethics in Practice Guidelines of the Group.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate engineering project work to meet deadlines.
• Assist with mechanical design reviews.
• Review project proposals or plans to input into time frame, procedures and resources.
• Coach and mentor junior staff.
• Perform HVAC calculations including Cooling and Heating Load and Mechanical Ventilation calculations.
• Perform Area take-off and Space and volume analysis.
• Formulate and production of Room by Room HVAC Performance Criteria with reference to Project Design Brief.
• Production and analysis of Mechanical services routes and Plant Room sizing.
• Perform duct and pipe sizing calculation, pressure drop calculation, system water content calculation.
• Perform Equipment sizing and selections with respect to production of equipment schedule.
• QA check of 2D and 3D drawings.
• Act in an Ethical manner and follow the Ethics Charter and Guidelines.

We now seek an Senior Mechanical Engineer to be based in our Manila office.

Role Responsibilities:

• Responsible for planning and coordinating engineering project work and design activities to ensure that project goals/objectives are accomplished within agreed deadline.
• Assists with mechanical technical design reviews.
• Reviews project proposals or plans to input into time frame, procedures for accomplishing project, resource requirements and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.
• Coach and mentor junior staff to become the next generation of engineers and leaders.
• Perform HVAC calculations but not limited to Cooling and Heating Load and Mechanical Ventilation calculations. But rather step by step and detail approach as per BSRIA design framework.
• Perform Area take-off and Space and volume analysis.
• Formulate and production of Room by Room HVAC Performance Criteria with reference to Project Design Brief and Governing Mechanical standard/code.
• Production and analysis of Mechanical services routes and Plant Room sizing with respect to Conceptual design stage.
• Perform duct and pipe sizing calculation, pressure drop calculation, system water content calculation.
• Perform Equipment sizing and selections with respect to production of equipment schedule.
• Monitoring and QA check of 2D and 3D drawings.
• Acts in an Ethical manner and follows the principles of the Ethics Charter and Ethics in Practice Guideline.
