Job summary

You will own substantial work from problem definition through production and explain engineering choices to stakeholders. Responsibilities include designing REST APIs, maintaining databases, and delivering reliable software in a Kubernetes/AWS environment.

Responsibilities

• Build new product features and third‑party integrations across backend and frontend.

Job description

As a Senior Full Stack Developer, you will build backend-led product capabilities for the Flights and Trains platform. The role is approximately 70% backend and 30% frontend. PHP/Laravel, integrations, data and reliable backend delivery are central; React supports the secondary frontend scope.

You will own substantial work from problem definition through production. You should be comfortable making progress from incomplete requirements, identifying what needs clarification and explaining the engineering choices behind your work.

• Build new product features and third‑party integrations across the backend and frontend
• Develop and maintain PHP/Laravel services and React interfaces
• Design and manage production REST APIs and secure integrations with other systems
• Develop and optimize relational databases, including schema changes, indexing and query performance
• Create and maintain automated tests that support reliable delivery
• Diagnose defects and production issues, improve system reliability and address technical debt
• Refine user stories and incomplete tickets so the intended outcome, risks and practical first release are clear
• Work with command and event buses in an event‑driven architecture
• Contribute to a hybrid ecosystem of monoliths and microservices running on Kubernetes in AWS
• Apply Domain‑Driven Design, clear domain separation, low coupling and maintainable code structure
• Conduct thoughtful code reviews and explain technical choices to engineers and stakeholders

• At least five years of professional software development experience, with recent commercial PHP/Laravel work in a current or recent role
• Evidence that you personally built substantial backend services, systems or product features, rather than only maintaining an existing application
• Practical React experience sufficient to contribute to a secondary frontend scope
• Strong relational database fundamentals, including schema design, migrations, indexing, query performance, transactions and ORM behaviour
• Production experience with REST APIs, authentication and secure web development practices
• Experience designing for scale, resilience and high availability, including failure handling and production troubleshooting
• Working knowledge of automated testing and code review, with ownership of software quality through production
• Sound engineering fundamentals and the ability to explain design principles, patterns and trade‑offs
• Ability to work independently, surface ambiguity early and seek alignment without waiting for exhaustive instructions
• Professional written and spoken English for collaboration with an international team and stakeholders
