Job summary

Hammerjack Pty Ltd is seeking a Senior Data Platform Engineer to operate and improve data infrastructure spanning on-premise and cloud (AWS/GCP) with Kubernetes. You will deploy via GitOps, monitor health, and participate in 24x7 rotations while mentoring juniors and upholding platform standards.

Key focus areas include robust observability, automation, and reliable service delivery across multi-cloud deployments, with emphasis on efficient incident response and scale-aware architectures.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of solid experience supporting production data workloads/platforms (Spark/Airflow/Jupyter).
• 5+ years of hands-on ETL/ELT development & data transformations (Python/Java & SQL).
• Proficiency in Kubernetes environments including AWS-EKS/GCP-GKE.
• Linux environments, microservice architectures, and service communication patterns.
• Strong troubleshooting on crashes, resource contentions, latency, scaling.
• Experience analyzing logs, metrics, monitoring systems and KPIs.

Responsibilities

• Deploy new releases and configuration changes via GitOps/DevOps.
• Monitor platform health using logs, metrics and observability tools.
• Participate in incident response and 24x7 rotations.
• Improve observability, tooling, automation and reliability practices.
• Investigate and troubleshoot user concerns and errors; propose resolutions.
• Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers.
• Advocate for platform standards and security best practices.
