Job summary

OpsWerks is seeking a Senior Data Platform Reliability Engineer to operate, maintain, and enhance large-scale data platforms on Kubernetes across on-prem and cloud (AWS/GCP). You will collaborate with platform, infra, and data engineering teams to ensure reliability, performance, and security while supporting modern data and AI workloads.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in ETL/ELT development, data engineering, or data platform operations.
• 3+ years supporting production data platforms with Spark, Airflow, and Jupyter.
• Hands-on with Python, Java, and SQL; Kubernetes on AWS EKS or GCP GKE.
• Strong Linux, microservices, and distributed systems knowledge.
• Experience diagnosing performance issues, bottlenecks, and scale challenges.

Responsibilities

• Operate and improve large-scale data platforms on Kubernetes across On-Prem, AWS, and GCP.
• Deploy releases and infra changes via GitOps and DevOps practices.
• Monitor health, observability, logging, and performance of platforms.
• Participate in incident management, RCA, and 24/7 rotations.
• Develop automation, tooling, and self-service capabilities for reliability.
