Job summary

Fireworks Financial team seeks an experienced Accounting Manager to own and scale core accounting operations as the business grows. You will oversee the general ledger, month‑end close, and reporting, partnering with FP&A, Engineering, Procurement, Legal, Tax, and Payroll to ensure accurate accounting across cloud and infrastructure spend.

The role is highly operational, technically strong, with a focus on scalable processes, data integrity, and audit readiness in a high-growth AI infrastructure

Qualifications

• 6–10+ years of progressive accounting experience in high-growth technology, SaaS, cloud infrastructure, or similarly complex environments.
• Strong experience owning the general ledger and month-end close.
• Deep understanding of accrual accounting, reconciliations, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, leases, payroll accounting, and financial statement presentation.
• Experience developing and improving accounting processes in a fast-growing organization.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge, including ASC 350-40 and ASC 842.
• Experience supporting external audits and preparing high-quality accounting documentation.
• Strong systems orientation and experience with ERPs such as NetSuite.
• Comfort working with large datasets using SQL, BigQuery, and other finance data tools.
• Strong cross-functional communication and collaboration with FP&A, Engineering, Procurement, Legal, Payroll, and business teams.
• Ability to identify process gaps and design scalable solutions with limited structure.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance; CPA or CPA eligibility preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process across the general ledger and ensure timely financial reporting.
• Manage and review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, leases, payroll-related accounts, intercompany activity, and other balance sheet items.
• Maintain balance sheet integrity via reconciliations, aging analyses, variance reviews, and timely resolution of items.
• Develop and improve the close calendar, reconciliation standards, and review controls for faster, scalable close.
• Partner with FP&A on monthly flux analysis, management reporting, and variances.
• Own accounting for infrastructure and compute-related spend, including cloud hosting, GPU capacity, data center costs, and vendor accruals.
• Document accounting treatment for capitalized software and internal-use technology under ASC 350-40; coordinate with Engineering and FP&A.
• Manage the fixed asset lifecycle: additions, depreciation, disposals, capitalization policies, reconciliations.
• Own leases under ASC 842: setup, modifications, amortization, reconciliations.
• Review procurement and vendor activity to ensure expenses are recorded in the correct period and entity.
• Collaborate with Procurement, AP, and business owners to improve P2P and accruals for high-value tech vendors.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies, process documentation, and internal controls.
• Support SOX-ready controls design and evidence standards, including audit readiness.
• Serve as primary contact for external auditors and prepare schedules, memos, and supporting docs.
• Identify automation opportunities using ERP features, SQL/data tools, and AI-enabled processes.
• Partner with Engineering and Data teams to ensure source data is complete and reproducible in accounting.
