Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Hydraulic Modeller in Manila to deliver and check hydraulic modelling work across wastewater, drainage, flood risk and integrated catchment projects. The role requires strong hands‑on modelling capability, technical judgement, clear reporting and the ability to guide less experienced team members.
The successful candidate will support model development, verification, scenario testing, flood and pollution risk assessment, survey planning and technical documentation for international water clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, update and verify hydraulic models for sewer networks, drainage systems and integrated catchment assessments.
- Run model scenarios to assess flooding, pollution, capacity, resilience and network performance risks.
- Support flow survey scoping, survey verification and the development of catchment‑scale strategic solutions.
- Prepare model outputs, calculations, maps, option appraisal material and technical reports for review and issue.
- Coordinate technical tasks with Manila team members and wider AECOM project teams.
Technical Quality and Leadership
- Act as a checker of hydraulic models, calculations and technical reports in line with agreed modelling specifications.
- Identify data gaps, model confidence issues, assumptions and risks, and propose practical actions to resolve them.
- Mentor junior modellers and support their technical development through task guidance and review feedback.
- Support technical innovation, workflow improvement and appropriate application of modelling tools and data management methods.
- Build positive working relationships with project managers, technical leads, client‑facing teams and colleagues across offices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, GIS, Geography, Water Resources or a related discipline.
- Professional membership or progress towards a recognised engineering, water or environmental professional qualification would be beneficial.
Essential Experience
- Proven experience in hydraulic modelling, water consultancy, wastewater, drainage, flood risk, GIS or data analysis.
- Good knowledge of hydraulic modelling or asset management software, preferably InfoWorks ICM and / or InfoAsset.
- Experience using GIS tools such as ArcGIS, QGIS or MapInfo to support modelling and spatial analysis.
- Ability to check models, calculations and technical deliverables with a strong focus on quality and traceability.
- Ability to prepare clear technical documentation and communicate modelling findings in English.
- Ability to work independently on defined technical tasks while escalating risks and assumptions appropriately.
Desirable Experience
- Experience supporting UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand or other international water infrastructure projects.
- Experience with 1D / 2D modelling, floodplain mapping, river modelling, pluvial modelling or integrated catchment modelling.
- Experience with HEC‑RAS, TUFLOW, Flood Modeller Pro, MicroDrainage, HY‑8, XP‑RAFTS or similar tools.
- Experience supporting scopes, fee inputs, tender responses, modelling specifications or technical standards.
