Job summary

WSP is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to shape and deliver high‑voltage network designs for major infrastructure projects in the Philippines. You will develop concepts for EHV, HV and MV systems, define supply philosophies, and prepare technical drawings and calculations for substations and cable systems.

The role requires strong knowledge of load flow, protection coordination and insulation coordination, plus experience coordinating with utilities, clients and multidisciplinary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline is required.
• Typically 7+ years of relevant experience in design and delivery of HV/MV electrical networks or major infrastructure power systems.
• Strong practical knowledge of EHV, HV and MV network design and substation interfaces.
• Experience with AIS and GIS substations, transformers, switchgear and related primary plant.
• Experience coordinating with utilities, clients, OEMs, contractors and multidisciplinary teams.
• Sound understanding of load flow, voltage drop, fault levels, protection coordination and insulation coordination.
• Strong technical writing and spoken English; ability to communicate complex electrical concepts across countries and time zones.

Responsibilities

• Comply with SHEQ, quality, governance, ethics and risk-management obligations; apply Safety in Design principles.
• Collaborate with Manila and Australian Power & Energy teams, clients and service providers.
• Develop electrical network concepts and designs for EHV, HV and MV systems.
• Define supply philosophy, topology, voltage levels, redundancy and staged development for facilities.
• Prepare and review single-line diagrams, layouts, equipment schedules and calculations.
• Coordinate load assessments, voltage drop, cable rating calculations and protective coordination.
• Design and specify EHV/HV/MV substations (AIS/GIS) and primary plant.
• Design underground HV/MV cable systems, including sizing, derating and cable routing.
• Develop earthing and lightning protection design inputs and coordinate with various teams.
• Coordinate interfaces with protection, SCADA, metering, civil, structural and other disciplines.
• Contribute to proposals, scopes of work, fee estimates and resource planning; support client presentations.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote consistent engineering practices.
