Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Principal Digital Forensics Investigator within Optum Insight's Cyber Defense. You will lead the enterprise digital forensics capability, guiding complex investigations across endpoints, networks, cloud, and identity environments, ensuring evidence integrity and defensible conclusions.

You will mentor teams, develop playbooks, and collaborate with Legal, Privacy, HR, Compliance, and other stakeholders to deliver timely, technically rigorous findings and actionable

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years in cybersecurity, digital forensics, incident response, or related security discipline.
• Experience leading complex digital forensic investigations end-to-end.
• Hands-on in endpoint, network, cloud, identity, and mobile forensics in enterprise settings.
• Experience with remote evidence collection, imaging, memory acquisition, and secure storage.
• Knowledge of Windows, Linux, macOS, cloud platforms, SaaS, and identity systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Establish and lead the Digital Forensics capability within Cyber Defense.
• Direct complex investigations involving compromise, malware, insider activity, and data loss.
• Provide forensic expertise across incident response lifecycle and post-incident improvements.
• Examine disks, memory, logs, network data, and cloud evidence for defensible conclusions.
• Develop secure remote evidence collection across distributed environments.
• Reconstruct timelines and correlate evidence across multiple telemetry sources.
• Partner with IR, Threat Intelligence, Legal, Privacy, HR, Compliance for actionable outcomes.
• Identify gaps and implement automation for triage, collection, and reporting.
