Job summary

UnitedHealth Group seeks a Principal Digital Forensics Investigator within Optum Insight's Cyber Defense to lead the enterprise digital forensics capability. You will oversee investigations across endpoints, networks, cloud, and identity systems, ensuring evidence integrity and clear reporting to stakeholders.

The role involves coordinating with incident response, threat intelligence, and legal teams, and will operate in a hybrid schedule in a global health tech environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Digital Forensics, Information Technology, Criminal Justice, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 8+ years of experience in cybersecurity, digital forensics, incident response, or related security discipline.
• Experience leading complex digital forensic investigations from evidence collection to reporting.
• Experience with Windows/Linux/macOS, cloud, identity, and mobile forensics in enterprise environments.
• Experience developing or improving forensic processes and evidence-handling procedures.
• Experience with remote evidence collection and secure storage.

Responsibilities

• Establish, mature, and lead the Digital Forensics and Investigations capability within Cyber Defense.
• Lead complex digital forensic investigations involving malware, unauthorized access, insider activity, and data loss.
• Provide advanced forensic expertise across the incident response lifecycle and translate findings into actionable improvements.
• Conduct examinations across endpoints, networks, cloud, SaaS, identity systems, and enterprise tech assets.
• Prepare clear, defensible investigative reports and executive summaries for stakeholders.
