Job summary

STAFFVIRTUAL is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to drive the modernization of an enterprise data platform. You will analyze legacy SQL Server and Access systems, design migration paths to PostgreSQL, and implement robust data integration and governance across both environments.

You will partner with Product Management and Engineering to ensure data fidelity and scalable data architectures for the cloud-based platform during the modernization journey.

Qualifications

• Experience in data engineering or related technical field.
• Hands-on with SQL Server, databases, stored procedures, and data migration.
• Experience reverse engineering MS Access databases and applications.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and cloud-based data platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of data solutions for modernization.
• Analyze and reverse engineer SQL Server databases and Access applications.
• Design, develop, and maintain data integration, synchronization, and migration between legacy SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
• Ensure data integrity across legacy and modern platforms.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and business teams to translate requirements into scalable data solutions.
• Develop data models, database structures, and migration strategies for long-term evolution.
• Document business rules embedded within legacy systems and code.
• Develop scripts and automated processes for migration, validation, and deployment.
• Troubleshoot data, integration, and application issues across platforms.
• Contribute to architecture and technical planning for modernization.
