Job summary

Penbrothers, Manila-based offshore engineering team, is seeking Data Engineers to build and maintain scalable data pipelines powering gaming, sportsbook, payments, and marketing. You will work with Databricks, Spark, Kafka, and Airflow in a modern cloud-based ecosystem, delivering reliable data products alongside product owners and stakeholders in Manila and Malta.

You will join a hybrid setup (2x a week onsite in Mandaluyong) with a day shift 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM Philippine time, collaborating

Qualifications

• Experience building data pipelines with Databricks and Airflow.
• Hands-on with modern data architectures (Snowflake, lakes/lakehouse).
• Experience with streaming tech (Kafka, Spark, Flink).
• Proficient in Python and/or Java; solid software fundamentals.
• SQL and experience with relational/NoSQL databases.

Responsibilities

About the Role

We are looking for Data Engineers to join our engineering team as part of our new Manila based offshore team and help build and maintain scalable, high-performance data solutions. In this role, you will work on data pipelines and integrations that power multiple business domains, including gaming, sportsbook, payments, and marketing. You will operate within a modern, cloud-basedecosystem,leveraging both batch and real-time data processing technologies, withDatabricksat the core of our data platform.

Working under the guidance of the Manila Team Lead, you will collaborate closely with engineers, product owners, and business stakeholders in both Manila and Malta to deliver reliable, high-quality data products.

Work Set-up: Hybrid (2x a week onsite in Mandaluyong)

What You'll Do(Duties and Responsibilities)

• Build and maintain scalabledatapipelines integrating multiple internal and externaldatasources.
• Develop and maintain real-time and batch data processing solutions using modern data technologies including Databricks, Spark, Kafka, and Airflow.
• Develop, maintain, and extend data models, tests, and documentation for our data transformation layer within our data platform.
• Implement and maintain dataintegrations with third‑​party platforms (e.g. CRM, marketing, financial systems).
• Supportdataquality, integrity, and reliability through validation, reconciliation, and monitoring frameworks.
• Contribute to datamodels across multiple business domains, under the guidance of the Team Lead.
• Build and maintain dataservices and APIs for internal and external dataconsumption.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues, participating in on-call support as part of the team rota.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, BI, product, infrastructure) to deliver end-to-enddataand marketing solutions.
• Participate in code reviews and followengineeringbest practices for testing and deployment.
• Contribute to agile ceremonies and continuously improve engineering practices within the team.

What You Bring(Skills, Qualifications or Experience)

• Experience building and maintaining data pipelines using technologies such asDatabricksandApache Airflow.
• Hands‑on experience withDatabricksor similar modern data architectures (e.g., Snowflake) is highly desirable.
• Experience withstreaming and real-time data technologiessuch asApache Kafka, Spark, or Flink(adjacent experience with technologies like RabbitMQ/Data Streaming philosophy is welcome).
• Proficiency in Python and/or Java, with solid softwareengineeringfundamentals.
• Good knowledge of SQL and experience working with relational, columnar, or NoSQL databases (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, MongoDB).
• Experience working with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
• Familiarity withmoderndataarchitectures, includingdatalakesandlakehouse patterns.
• Datamodelling skills and the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Experience working with APIs anddataexposure patterns (e.g. REST services).
• Awareness ofdataquality, monitoring, and observability practices.
• Experience working in Agile environments and contributing to iterative delivery.

Nice to Have

• Experience with, or willingness to adopt, AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude).
• Experience working with Marketingdatadomains (campaigns, offers, rewards, customer segmentation).
• Industry experience in gaming or gambling is beneficial but not required.
