Job summary

Manulife is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to design, build, automate, and optimize cloud platforms while partnering with engineering teams to deliver secure, reliable, and scalable solutions.

The role emphasizes Azure, AKS, Terraform, CI/CD, and DevOps practices in a hybrid setup. You will collaborate across enterprise platforms and mentor peers on cloud modernization initiatives, contributing to Manulife/John Hancock’s global technology strategy.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of IT experience including cloud engineering and distributed systems design.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Azure, Kubernetes (AKS), and Terraform.
• Solid knowledge of Unix/Linux environments.
• Experience with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile software development practices.
• Hands-on experience building and integrating RESTful APIs, web services, and cloud-native applications.
• Familiarity with API Gateways, Messaging, Event Streaming, Distributed Tracing, SQL, and Document Databases.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across technical and business teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with public, private, or hybrid cloud environments.
• Kubernetes and/or HashiCorp certifications.
• Experience delivering enterprise‑scale PaaS solutions, particularly using Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
• Expertise in Infrastructure as Code, Desired State Configuration, and cloud platform automation
