Job summary

Deel is seeking an experienced Backend Engineer to join our remote-first engineering team. You will design and implement scalable services using Node.js, TypeScript, and PostgreSQL, with a focus on performance and security.

You’ll collaborate across product, design, and QA to deliver robust APIs and infrastructure that power global payroll and HR platforms. Ideal candidates have 8+ years of software engineering experience, strong OO design, and a track record of building high-volume systems.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience with Node.js and TypeScript/JavaScript.
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL and SQL.
• Experience designing scalable systems.
• Experience building secure APIs with JWT.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with frontend, product, design, and QA to build seamless experiences.
• Plan product from discovery to deployment and contribute across the SDLC.
• Develop features and APIs, and fix bugs quickly.
• Ensure customer-centric engineering and high-quality services.
• Design and implement scalable backend services for high transaction volumes.
