Job summary

Bridgit is a leading non-bank lender transforming how Australians access property equity. We seek a senior backend engineer to own the backend, shape architecture, and drive secure, scalable APIs using Node.js, TypeScript, and AWS. You’ll work with onshore and offshore teams in PH to deliver high-impact systems.

You’ll contribute to infrastructure, deployment, and documentation while fostering a culture of clarity and collaboration across engineering, product, and operations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years as a backend developer with ownership of backend systems.
• Commercial experience with Node.js, TypeScript and AWS infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL and data storage practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

• Day-to-day management of Bridgit's backend and API surfaces.
• Provide guidance and hands-on solutions across the engineering landscape.
• Leverage backend expertise and AI tools as we scale.
• Spearhead AWS infrastructure management and CDK scripting.
• Lead and grow the function, collaborating with onshore and PH-based teams, and support continuous deployment.

Our tech stack includes Node.js, TypeScript, and NestJS for building secure, maintainable RESTful APIs, and we rely on PostgreSQL with Sequelize for robust, scalable data storage. What You’ll Do

Backend Engineering Ownership

• Day to day management of everything Bridgit’s backend.
• Provide guidance and hands-on solutions to the engineering landscape.
• Apply proven backend know-how and lean into new AI tools as we grow.

Infrastructure Management

• Spearhead best in class AWS Infrastructure management.
• Own the CDK Infrastructure scripting.
• Lead new Infra/Security initiatives.

Lead and grow the function

• Scale-Up environment where you can really be the difference.
• Collaborate with our onshore and offshore team in PH.
• Running in continuous deployment, we move at hyper-pace.

What We're Looking For

• 5 years + working as a backend developer.
• 2 years + experience with Node.js.
• Commercial experience with Node.JS, TypeScript and AWS Infrastructure.
• Positive attitude to the day to day with good interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail in documentation and ticket descriptions.
• Experience with PostgreSQL.
• Experience with AWS S3, RDS, ECS and Lambda.
• Outstanding communication skills.
