Job description

Role Overview

The Senior Accounting Manager – Philippines provides senior in-country finance governance and support for Philippines 2 legal entities across multiple business lines. The Country Controller (Philippines) holds ultimate operational and legal accountability for the integrity of the country’s financial landscape, including the end-to-end month-end close, full compliance with both US GAAP and Local GAAP, the effectiveness of the local financial control environment (SOX), and the timely delivery of all Philippine statutory and regulatory obligations. While day-to-day transactional accounting, data processing, and routine controls are executed by a centralized Shared Service Centre and corporate Centers of Excellence (COEs), this operational model does not diminish the Controller’s final ownership. The successful candidate will act as the driving governance, executing critical local management judgments, and leading cross-functional accountability from centralized teams to ensure flawless financial execution and compliant business growth.

Country & Entity Governance
  • Own and provide final accountability for material country/entity-level financial, accounting and control matters.
  • Lead and resolve in-country cross-business-line or cross-functional finance issues.
  • Ensure material financial risks and unresolved issues are appropriately identified, owned, escalated and resolved.
  • Direct and execute local legal-entity governance and finance-related corporate requirements.
Statutory, Regulatory & Local Requirements
  • Hold ultimate responsibility for delivering Philippine statutory accounting and regulatory obligations accurately and on time.
  • Collaborate with Shared Service, COEs, Tax and other functions to ensure local requirements are completed appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Own and execute matters requiring local finance judgment, representation or interaction with external parties and authorities.
  • Perform designated local officer, authorized signatory or treasury responsibilities where required by the legal entities.
Financial Control & Risk
  • Review, approve, and own the remediation of material balance-sheet, accounting and control exceptions, focusing on aged, high-risk or judgmental matters.
  • Ensure appropriate owners and remediation plans are established and executed for significant control issues.
  • Provide definitive country-level escalation for significant issues that cannot be resolved through normal centralized processes.
  • Ensure the absolute implementation and effectiveness of global financial controls within the Philippines (retaining full responsibility for the control environment even where execution is performed by the Shared Service).
Close, Audit & Tax Oversight
  • Manage and hold final accountability for the month-end and year-end close, resolving all significant Philippines-specific accounting issues and ensuring accurate accounting in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Drive and lead statutory audit matters requiring senior local involvement, partnering directly with the Audit COE and Shared Service.
  • Take ownership of the resolution of complex audit, statutory or regulatory matters requiring local knowledge or management judgment.
Business & Stakeholder Partnership
  • Partner decisively with Work Dynamics, Leasing and other business-line finance teams on significant country-level matters.
  • Provide definitive finance guidance on matters requiring Philippines-specific regulatory, entity or operational knowledge.
  • Drive and facilitate resolution of issues spanning multiple business lines or centralized finance functions.
  • Maintain effective and influential relationships with local business leadership and relevant global and regional finance stakeholders.
Shared Service, COE & Outsourced Delivery Model
  • Work collaboratively with Shared Service and COEs, holding each function accountable to ensure effective end-to-end finance delivery.
  • Provide definitive country expertise and escalation support where centralized teams require local input.
  • Formally elevate material service, compliance or control issues.
  • Enforce and maintain clear accountability boundaries between country finance, Shared Service, COEs, and business-line finance.
  • Manage the output of the Shared Service, which retains responsibility for day-to-day management and service delivery; note that Shared Service execution has no effect on the ultimate responsibilities the Country Controller holds for accounting and controls.
Finance Transformation & Continuous Improvement
  • Drive and mandate the continued migration and standardization of appropriate finance activities into Shared Service and COEs.
  • Identify and eliminate duplicate activities and unnecessary local manual processes.
  • Promote and enforce standardized, scalable and end-to-end finance processes.
  • Sponsor and support automation and process improvements that strengthen the centralized operating model.
Qualifications & Experience
  • - Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
  • - Professional accounting qualification such as CPA or equivalent preferred.
  • - Strong knowledge of financial accounting, internal controls, statutory reporting and Philippine regulatory requirements.
  • - Significant experience in controllership, legal-entity finance, financial governance or a comparable senior finance role.
  • - Min 10 years of experience
  • - Experience working within a shared-services, outsourced or highly centralized finance operating model.
  • - Ability to operate effectively across multiple business lines and matrix organizations.
  • - Strong stakeholder management, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • - Ability to distinguish material financial risks requiring local management attention from activities appropriately owned by centralized delivery teams.
  • - Demonstrated ability to drive standardization, simplification and continuous improvement.
