Job summary

People Work Smart in the Philippines is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our finance team in Angeles City, Pampanga. You will own end-to-end accounting across multiple entities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting.

The role emphasizes process improvements, automation, and robust financial controls, with responsibilities spanning AP, AR, payroll support, and month‑end close. You’ll collaborate with global teams to support growth and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years’ accounting or finance experience, including 2 years in a senior or supervisory role.
  • Strong experience across accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections, and general accounting functions.
  • Proven experience supporting month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Background in process improvement, finance transformation, or automation initiatives.
  • Experience working within multi-entity or international business environments.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems (SQL-based systems preferred).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including reconciliations, reporting, and financial modelling.
  • CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Philippine taxation and BIR compliance requirements.
  • Exposure to ANZ, UK, or US accounting environments is highly advantageous.
  • Experience within offshore, BPO, or shared services environments is preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, organisational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Willingness to work in Australian business hours.
  • Must be willing to work onsite in Angeles City, Pampanga.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of end-to-end accounting operations across multiple entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

  • Ensure internal controls, policies, and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Identify inefficiencies and drive process improvements and automation.

You’ll play a key role in ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency while supporting the continued growth of the business.


What You’ll Be Doing

As a Senior Accountant, you will take ownership of end-to-end accounting operations across multiple entities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial reporting. In addition to managing core accounting functions, you will help drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and scalable finance operations across global teams.


Accounts Payable & Cash Flow Management


  • Oversee end-to-end accounts payable processes, including invoice validation, approvals, and timely vendor payments

  • Manage cash flow forecasting and payment scheduling across multiple entities

  • Perform and review bank reconciliations, ensuring timely resolution of discrepancies

  • Maintain strong vendor relationships and manage escalations professionally

  • Monitor payment cycles and support working capital management initiatives


Accounts Receivable & Collections


  • Manage collections processes, including follow-ups on outstanding receivables and dispute resolution

  • Maintain and analyse accounts receivable ageing reports, providing regular updates to leadership

  • Prepare and issue invoices, statements, and credit notes as required

  • Monitor debtor risk and recommend actions to maintain healthy cash flow

  • Support improvements to collection processes and customer account management


Payroll Support


  • Support payroll processing across Philippine and international entities

  • Assist with statutory contributions, withholding tax calculations, and payroll reconciliations

  • Liaise with HR teams and external payroll providers to ensure accuracy and compliance

  • Ensure adherence to local payroll regulations and reporting requirements


Financial Reporting & Month-End Close


  • Support month‑end and year‑end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations

  • Prepare management reports including profit and loss summaries, cash flow reports, and variance analysis

  • Maintain general ledger accuracy and ensure supporting documentation is complete and audit‑ready

  • Assist in preparing financial records for tax filings, audits, and regulatory reporting requirements

  • Provide timely financial insights and reporting support to management


Compliance & Internal Controls


  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and financial procedures

  • Assist with multi‑entity compliance requirements as the business expands internationally

  • Ensure accounting processes align with audit requirements and regulatory standards

  • Support risk management and financial governance initiatives


Process Improvement & Systems


  • Identify inefficiencies and proactively recommend process improvements

  • Support automation, system integration, and finance transformation initiatives

  • Develop, maintain, and improve standard operating procedures for key accounting processes

  • Assist in onboarding, mentoring, and supporting junior finance team members

  • Contribute to building scalable finance processes that support business growth


Global Stakeholder Collaboration


  • Work closely with onshore and offshore teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting

  • Respond to ad‑hoc reporting requests and financial analysis requirements

  • Build strong working relationships with international stakeholders across multiple business functions

  • Support leadership with financial insights and decision‑making information


What We’re Looking For
