Job summary

Verkada offers a software engineering internship where you will contribute to the backend team from Verkada's San Mateo HQ. You will build scalable distributed systems, work with modern storage and messaging technologies, and deploy services with Terraform and Kubernetes.

You will design APIs in Python and/or Go, gaining real-world impact on security platforms used worldwide. The internship is on-site at our San Mateo, CA headquarters, with a winter/summer 2027 availability and a strong emphasis

Qualifications

• Pursuing a CS degree, graduating by mid-2028.
• Prior internship developing and launching products.
• Familiar with Python or Go, distributed systems, AWS, Docker.
• Comfortable in an agile software development environment.
• Experience with REST APIs and Linux servers is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build scalable distributed systems for high traffic across devices worldwide.
• Work with Redis, DynamoDB, and Postgres databases.
• Deploy services using Terraform and Kubernetes.
• Develop microservices with low latency and high throughput.
• Design APIs and implement in Python and/or Go.
