Job summary

The Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center/Aquaculture Department (SEAFDEC/AQD) invites applications for a Research Assistant to support breeding and seed production activities at Tigbauan, Iloilo. The role involves maintaining seaweed cultures, field sampling, and water parameter monitoring, with coordination between international supervisors and local staff.

Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries or Biology, with preferred exposure to aquaculture, lab work, and strong

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries, Biology, or related field.
• Preferably with good scholastic records and relevant experience in aquaculture, fisheries, seaweed culture, marine biology, fieldwork or laboratory work.

Responsibilities

• Maintain seaweed tissue cultures through microscopic observation at Tigbauan Main Station.
• Conduct seaweed sampling at Tigbauan, Igang Marine Station and open-field sites.
• Monitor water parameters at Tigbauan and IMS.
• Coordinate between Japanese supervisor and SEAFDEC/AQD staff.
• Prepare reports and encode data.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
